Warden. But Hawke is not far behind.

I have to agree with this. Hawke was great, but the way I played her, she was the good-at-heart comic relief character- someone I would have wanted in my party. But the Warden, though mute and posessing a total of one facial expression, felt much more personal. Maybe it was the fact that I could read and map out what I was going to say, rather than select the "nice guy" or "wise guy" option. Still, Hawke was great.

Hawke. Because of the excellent VO's (femHawke specifically), the improved version of the discussion wheel (really makes it easy to give character), and the far greater emphasis on her personality and personal life as well... even if her family's importance was way too underplayed in my opinion.
I loved DAO more overall of course. More adventure feel, larger scope, and bigger bets with Blight and the potential loss of an entire country vs. one single city, epilogue and alternate endings etc blah blah. But Hawke I liked, she may have more personality than any BW protagonist to date. Given that she actually has a chance to show humour and some rare moments of weakness and humanity.

Hawke is my fave. I like a playable character that doesn't pull all the strings and is buffeted by events. The warden was just your average hero figure. Boring.

I just played Origins after playing DA2, my god I hate the Warden. It wasn't until I played it again that I realizes how much.
Unless you play a Sarcastic Hawke he/she isn't much better.

I'll have to go with the Warden to be honest with you there. As I thought that he was more mine than that of Hawke.

Neither main character; it's the journeys both experience that matter.

I didn't realise how attached I was to my Dalish warden until I played DA2 and she kept getting mentioned.
I like my sarcastic Hawke as well but in ways I can't fully explain I feel my Warden had more room for self creation than Hawke and that allows my storyteller mind to run away with various stories about her that I can't with Hawke.
That makes more sense in my head.

Hawke was fun, but she's no dwarf so warden wins out on that criteria alone. =D

You could slam a beard on his face and pretend to be a dwarf!

I have an ongoing 230k words FF about my Dalish Warden and still enjoy to plot her story, whereas the story of Hawke was/is over for me when the credits rolled. I just so not care for Hawke...s/he was just a random character in a videogame for me, while I'm really REALLY attached to Lenya Mahariel who is MY character through and THROUGH.
Big difference here.

LOL!
So if we shrink Hawke, is it fair game then?
And as I said before... I love them both equally.

I can't remember if I already posted in this thread. Oh well.
Warden, oddly enough, felt like more of a person to me. She could talk to people whenever. She could buy gifts. The lack of VO just meant her voice was custom designed by my own imagination.
Hawke is good too, but she hardly holds my interest the way the Warden does. It's been a year and a bit, and I STILL care about my Warden. I just don't think it will be the same for Hawke.

Who do I love more? The Warden. Even with the inability to speak in casual conversation, always awaiting specific moments to voice his/her opinion.
Hawke was good though. Running around as a sarcastic Hawke was quite a bit of fun.

Warden by far. I hope main character for Dragon 3 is the warden or a new character. I don't think I could stand playing Hawke another game. Just simply put isn't a likeable character at all.

Warden way more badaas at least mine is,not that hawke isn't badass or anything but my warden would outmatch him in a second.
But the sarcastic hawke is seriously fun so conversational like hawke.but thats because the wardens mouth was sewed(like the qunari mages and my granddad)

The Warden is still the one I love playing. I just don't have the same connection with Hawk as I do with my Warden(s) character. Could be because I know so much more about the Warden ( after 13 play throughs, I should!) than I do about Hawk ( only on my 3rd play through), but I do love the fact that Hawk has a voice now.
