Read it again. If it still doesn't make sense, that's ok. It's probably better that way.

awww...yeah....it doesn't make any sense to me....but care to explain either way? LOL

Replace Fenris with Isabela in the topic title. Natural fit, no?

doesn't seem like it. It's kinda odd to keep something that tells people your whereabout in a random chest located in a place that's not exactly the safest part of town

Oh it is odd, but that was the only conclusion I could come to.

A man is riding on a train when a second gentleman gets on and sits down across from him. The first man notices the second is holding an oddly shaped package.
"What is that?" the first man asks.
"A MacGuffin, a tool used to hunt lions in the Scottish highlands."
"But there are no lions in the Scottish highlands," says the first man.
"Well then," says the other, "That's no MacGuffin".

well it....ok you're right. it fits.

I hope it's not one of those "we came up with something and we don't have an answer for it either" inconsistency

Yeah... like I said in that thread, it had to be some kind of a physical object he was hoping for, since one wouldn't hope to find "information" locked in a guarded chest. When you pick Hawke's sarcastic response to him telling you that he should have known it was bait, he says, "So all of that for an empty broken chest?" And Fenris says "No," and mysteriously figures out that Danarius was in town from the guard. (Saying he can read some words is a cop-out tbh.) So that was a bonus prize.

Maybe they originally planned for Fenris to have some kind of a phylactery? He mentions later that he has no idea how Danarius kept finding him, saying "maybe it's the markings." So all of that could have just been the sloppy remains of an abandoned plot.

I think this seems very likely. When I first met Fenris, I was thinking that's what it was, and that maybe we were supposed to hunt it down and destroy it later.

It would even give him another reason to hate magic as much as he does. "If it wasn't for blood magic I could probably sit still for more than a week at a time without having the bounty hunters come after me!!!1!!" And then they could have nixed the plot when they realized they had done it already for mages. Like four times. Hahaha.

Except then you have to wonder why Fenris would consider even for a moment that Danarius would drag his phylactery-or-other-such-object all the way from Tevinter to Kirkwall and how he would even hear about it.

I thought it might be a sword for some reason. Don't you get him a special sword later in the game? (Or is my imagination playing tricks on me?)

You do, but it's not anything that he would seek out or choose for himself. If he's rivaled, he won't even accept it and will tell Hawke that he never wants to see it again.

But you can equip it on him anyway. Image IPB

Box is a euphemism for female genitalia. Fenris sleeps with Isabela.

Thus you could say Fenris was after Isabela's box.

that would make so much sense though...or else how is Danarius successfully tracking Fenris as easily as he was doing?

Whenever Isabela is added to a conversation, people somehow end up talking about sex.

Perhaps he was hoping the Wizard left him a heart in that box.
