Question about Nathaniel?

I've had great difficulty finding a comprehensive list of all the effects from importing - specifically concerning DA:Awakening. Am I understanding correctly that the ONLY impact to be found in DA2 is Nathaniel's appearance and the resulting dialogue of whether you killed/didn't kill the Architect? o.o;

Not at all. I'm fairly certain Anders makes some references, but it also unlocks a whole quest. (supposed to, it was bugged for me). Rememeber that these saves will continue to roll forward to future DA games too!

Nathaniel has his very own quest in the deep roads during act 2 or 3 (can't remember right now) where you have to save his arse and what is left of his team.

He recognizes Anders and will fight with you on the final fight.. If everything goes okay, He also mentions vigil Keep ect ect..

Really like all conversations / cameo's.. nothing exciting.. Unfortunately.

Alistair: Hey I wanted to talk to you
Me: Sweet its Alistair, what can I help you with? You traveled so far to discuss something.
Alistair: Nevermind I was just a Cameo bye.

I believe it's supposed to trigger in Act 3 if Nathaniel and the Architect survived Awakenings but is bugged for quite a few people.

What was that message? I replayed the diaglogue 3 times, He never said anything that would be reason enough for an audience with me. Everytime he says:

"I had something important to say, but merdalin (spelling?) got here first ~tootles" If I missed something then I might replay it. :P

P.s. I did enjoy the warden reference after our conversation, but it seemed so pointless overall (Aka Cameo)

Yay! Thank you! And yes - Very good point! I suppose I'm just a little frustrated - my first playthrough of DA2 was my "main" character and her import included everything from the DLC's and Awakening. However, I had several issues with certain decisions I had made not being reflected properly during gameplay and I never got to see Nathaniel. 

Here's hoping my second playthrough will be less messy and I'll get to see Mr. Howe. :P

(And maybe DA Wiki will make a magical list where all of this stuff can be found, LOL).

Phooey! How did I get to be so lucky? LOL! At least I'm not the only having this issue.

To clarify, do you mean that Nathaniel AND the Architect must survive Awakening for Nathaniel to appear in DA2? 'Cause I'm pretty sure I killed ol' Archy in at least ONE of my playthroughs. O.o;;

@Solyria Nate's dialogue references the Architect being alive. I assumed that was a bug but I've heard that its a requirement for the quest to be offered. I've never left him alive and have seen Nate on both of my playthroughs.

Hmm, hooray for buggies it would seem! The playthrough that I'm having issues with I *did* let the Architect live but still no Nathaniel. ;_; I have another import I'm getting ready to do where I killed him quite happily. So, Nathaniel's dialogue will reflect as if you let the Architect live regardless of if you kill him or not? O.o;;

Yep - well for me anyway. My guide says the only criteria for the quest is that you have an Awakenings import where he's recruited and alive at the end of the game. (Of course we know guides can be wrong ;-) ). That's why I assumed that the Architect mention was a bug. I've since seen posts where its stated that it isn't. Nothing official though...

I'm one of those with a glitched game. Had both the Architect and Nathaniel alive, but can never trigger his quest on Act 3. Damned Fool's Gold gets triggered instead. Just waiting for an official patch to fix all the glitched imports and quests.

Thank you for the info! Here's hoping my next playthrough will be happy, bug-free, and full of Nathaniel! I wouldn't be surprised if the dialogue was bugged - ( or at least skewed in the sense that your decision doesn't matter, Bioware went ahead and made it for you, LOL. Like in Awakening, if your Warden died, they go ahead and pretend it never happened! Which, is... logical... but anyway! ) I wish there was more Nathaniel to be had but I'll be grateful for the little teaser... you know... when I finally see it! XD;;

Hmm, just as long as we're skating along the topic of import stuffs, do you happen to know what impact Golems and Witchhunt have on DA2? I didn't really notice anything too interesting when talking with ol' Flemmy. I'm just wondering if my stupid, buggy import has cost me missing anything else fun.

We shall suffer the lack of Nathaniel together. <3 I almost wonder if I should stop playing until such a patch is released... but then my fingers start twitching and somehow I'm holding the controller and, oooo, look! Dragon Age magically appears. XD;;

..Then again I'm tempted to hurl fireballs at templars >__>

Hehehe! My goody goody rogue was my first playthrough on DA2 - I'm starting to think I will eventually try to reload her import and start over so I can actually have a sense of completion! Perhaps a magical patch will come along and fix it so she can have the fun of 'meeting' Nathaniel. And as you said, it would be nice to have a good and complete import to carry over to DA3. I hate thinking that I missed anything that could have any potential effect in the future. Working on my second playthrough now, my butt munch warrior, and so far everything seems to be 'okay'.

I'm also saving my mage for last - she's my favey and I don't want ANY problems when I play her.

But I must agree... Templars + fireball = temptating! :lol:
