I'm sure many of you accomplished this a while ago, but I just completed all the achievements in Mass Effect 1. I started playing last December and have clocked a total of 150 hrs since then (not all spent achievement hunting).

Some remarks on achievements I found difficult/notable:

Medal of Valor: I started my Insanity playthough with a Level 53 character, which only made it tedious instead of very difficult. Synthetics went down quickly enough but organics spamming Immunity (esp. Krogans, grr...) made it slow-going at times. Perhaps playing Insanity mode on a brand new career should have been a separate achievement?

Extreme Power Gamer: It took me roughly 2.5 playthroughs to get to level 60. Two playthroughs were mostly complete with a third playthrough that avoided almost any side-missions. I also tried to avoid killing enemies with the Mako, although I'm not sure if it was necessary to avoid a fourth playthrough.

Lift Mastery, etc.: These achievements forced me to give the other classes besides Soldier a go, which was cool. Lift, Sabotage, and other powers that can just be spammed in the air didn't take too long to get. Stasis and AI Hacking took the longest since they have to be used on a target and I never found either ability to be that useful. AI Hacking just seemed to guarantee that that enemy would get mowed down by his comrades very quickly.

Soldier Ally, etc.: These were the last achievements I got. I've seen a lot of discussion about exactly how many missions/assignments it takes to get each character's achievement but I'm not convinced that anyone is exactly correct about the numbers. For example: The ME Wiki states that you need to complete 45 assignments with Ashley to get the Soldier Ally achievement. However, I got the achievement with only 38 completed assignments (and 22 completed parts of missions or "sub-missions"). Also, the exact moment I got the achievement was in the middle of the Feros mission right after detaching the Geth ship from the Exogeni Headquarters. This moment in the game is not the end of any assignment, but it is the end of a sub-mission. Does each sub-mission count as a completed assignment? I'm not sure. Perhaps each assignment and sub-mission that I completed with Ashley added up to 45. It's also unclear whether or not you get credit for missions that are only completed once you're back inside the Normandy, since your squadmates are no longer in your party at that moment.

Anyway, those are just some of my thoughts about those achievements. Now, there are some ME2 achievements I need to get...

ME1 I never even tried to get all the achievements since far too many were turian insignia style and I had no desire to map out every boring planet. Me2 all the achievements were easy to get on the other hand since they were more about doing action based things in the game. The one that took the longest was the kill 20 guys while stumbling back from a melee attack. I rarely meleed people so probably until my 5th or 6th play through that one did not happen.(my vanguard play through)

Still haven't hit all the achievements in me1. I think the ones I have left are the take x squad member on most missions...

Those get really old fast, especially when you go through all of the trouble of doing some heinous side quest only to have it complete on the ship, with no one in your squad.

There actually aren't any achievements in ME1 related to the collection assignments (Turian insignias, heavy metals, etc). You don't have to do them to get Completionist or the squadmate achievements either. In fact, there's really no reason to do the collection assignments except for the satisfaction of getting them greyed-out in your Journal. It's disappointing that there wasn't a fleshed-out side mission relating to the League of One, for example.

Yeah, that frustrated me as well. Really though, you should be able to get those achievements on any typical playthrough without thinking about it, as long as you remember to keep the same two squadmates for the entire game. I was an idiot my last playthrough and decided I would use Kaiden/Ashley. Then I went to Virmire before getting the achievements, forgetting that one of them wouldn't be coming back

Yeah, I didn't know about the concept of NG+ when I first got ME1. I was about 3/4 though my full NG Insanity playthrough when I found out how much easier it could have been. That was probably one of my biggest ME facepalm moments. Adepts may have been overpowered in ME1, but starting one off at level 1 on insanity is... not so OP.

Well done. I have all ME2 achievements (including all DLC), but I gave up on ME1. I just could not stay awake through Insanity. I think I have all the other ones though. I know I have extreme powergamer plus all the ally achievements.

Well, you can do them all in three playthroughs. I've personally done about 5-6. And I still haven't got them all.

Insanity (on both games) I got pretty quickly, but the "Complete the majority with _____" are LONG.

I've done Wrex and Kaidan, I'll start a new playthrough soon and get Liara and Ashley, Then Tali and Garrus. Well, the order doesn't matter.

No idea when I'll actually be bothered to play ME1 again. Especially with the new feature in ME3 that allows you to customise the story.. Hmm..

Let's revive an old thread! :D

A year after your posts, I still don't have all the ME1 achievements. I have ME2 (w/DLC) and ME3 maxed out but not the first one. The inclusion of Pinnacle Station is a great way to get the power and weapon achievements though I might give 100%ing it a try.
