Hello All, I stumbled upon this glitch (I'm on PC, FYI) and thought i'd share.
Firstly, this is NOT an exploit using Maker's Sigh. I am one of those unfortunates who used Maker's Sigh and wound up with a rogue who moved slower than the Golems that were pummeling him. Apparently, the Maker's Sigh exploit ODES give you extra ability and specialization points, but your passive stats are also removed as if they were base stats. Or that is the general concensus as I understand it.
Anyhow, onto this exploit:
Before we do anything, we want to make sure your quickbar has at least TWO unassigned places.
Now, when leveling up, allocate your attribute points normally, and click Confirm. But, when you then go to choose an ability, think of TWO abilities you want: the one you really want (DESIRED ability) + one that is nice to have, but not essential (EXPLOIT ability).
Choose your EXPLOIT ability first. The trick here is to grab an ability that is nice, but not essential -- an ability you might not normally choose. Additionally, make sure that it is NOT an ability that begins part of a tree that features abilities you DO eventually want. See, the way we are doing this allows the EXPLOIT ability to become part of your quickbar, but it does NOT register as "confirmed" in your ability trees. Apparently, the quickbar and the ability trees are not directly related in terms of programming or whatever. So, for instance, I noticed that Elemental Weapons is a standalone ability unlinked to a chain. This makes a good candidate. Also, the EXPLOIT ability should be an Activated or Sustained ability, as Passive abilities naturally do not show up in the quickbar.
So... you are now selecting your EXPLOIT ability in the talent tree screen. Click the EXPLOIT ability and then, look down at your quickbar to make sure that it has appeared. Now, MOVE the EXPLOIT ability to a different quickbar number from the one that it automatically generated on. And instead of clicking "Confirm," click "Back." The EXPLOIT ability should still be in your quickbar. So when you go to select your DESIRED ability as usual, you should end up with a double ability gain.
I should have tried this out with more than just one EXPLOIT ability... Anyone wnat to verify if this exploit works for you, too, and i'll see if i can get more than just one freebie per levelup, too...
cheers

additionally, you may wish to wait to try this exploit until you are at least at a level 14 ... just so that you kind of have your pick of whatever you want.
also, avoid exploiting any abilities you may wish to have upgraded.

UPDATE: (sorry, i was so excited to share, i left out some key info)
here is a simplified order of operations list and how-to:
1) make sure you have at least two free spaces in the 1-0 ability quickbar
2) during level-up, choose attributes normally and Confirm
3) during level-up, choose your DESIRED ability and your EXPLOIT abilities. Not that EXPLOIT abilities should not be part of a tree containing DESIRED abilities. For this reason, you may wish to wait to use this exploit until you are at least level 14 so that most of the abilities are unlocked, and you have also been able to plan which abilities you need to have legitimately and which ones you can use as EXPLOIT freebies.
4) click the talent tree containing an EXPLOIT ability.
5) click the EXPLOIT ability and then click "Back"
6) the EXPLOIT ability will still be in your quickbar until you choose another ability... or move the EXPLOIT ability to a new slot. you can even move the exploit ability to an un-numbered slot to the right.
7) click on a talent tree and select another EXPLOIT ability. and repeat steps 5&6 until you are satisfied.
8) click a talent tree and your DESIRED ability. Then click "Confirm"
Please note that you MUST select the EXPLOIT ability, click "Back" and THEN move its position in the quickbar. If you move the EXPLOIT ability before returning to the "all talent trees" screen, this trick will not work.
Please free free to share your experiences and if this also works on consoles. As far as I know, it is a PC-only exploit because of that quickbar.
Happy dragon hunting!
