Who do they put in Leliana's place if you killed her during the Urn or Sacred Ashes quest? Please tell me they dont pull a Conrad Verner with her lol.

Edit: Nevermind, just found out they do pull a Conrad Verner with her.  *facepalm*  Let's just pretend that I apparently didnt do ANYTHING in origins or Awakening while we're at it lolPosted Image

yep.  BioWare says they're not going to set a "canon" so people don't get angry.

instead they'll just pick and choose what "choices" you made in previous games null-and-void at a whim.

honestly I'd prefer a set "canon" as at least then things will keep consistant.

Honestly, the Origin cameos came off as mostly cheap fanservice.

Bodhan served no purpose beyond telling me that I had mail after Act 1

Sandal was made more mentally retarded than he ever acted in Origins... seriously, he barked at the Mabari for 2 minutes. That being said he, again, slaughtered a bunch of people and was there to let me enchant stuff at the end so kudos.

Alistair - seemed to be one of a few actual nods at a decision you made in Origins, depending on whether he arrived as Drunkard, King, or Warden. I personally had the King Alistair cameo, and honestly this is the one that came off as the most fan service-y of them all. We were told that Orlais is having some second thoughts about letting Ferelden have its independence (Loghain was right.) and that was pretty much it. The rest of it came off like this....

"Hey! Hey everybody! See! SEE! Your choices in Origins, the game that you spent 120+ hours on DID actually matter! And see guys, we even said the joke! Swooping guys! SWOOPING."

Zevran showed up to kill people and have sex.... regardless of whether you killed him in Origins or not..... moving on.

Leliana...... oh Leliana. Another character who may have faced the harsh sting of my Wardens blade, and yet you staunchly show up as the LEFT HAND OF THE DIVINE?! What the hell happened to "I wanted to leave that life behind me. I fear I'm being an evil person. Boo hoo," She went from being the woman who wanted to escape her life as a bard by joining the Chantry, to becoming the Chantrys personal assassin. Andrastes' knicker weasels, will the woman make up her mind?!

Nathaniel Howe: I'm pretty sure you were angry at me for killing the Architect... but now not only did my Warden ally with the Architect, you were pissed that he did? >.< Grr.

Continuity error, please try again.

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth of sorts really, not enough to hate the game but enough for it to feel like a bad soap opera in a way with little stunts like this.  A character gets killed off (which I found kind of funny in a way because I even lopped her head off with a death blow from origins lol) and then miraculously is somehow NOT dead later.

Alistair as an exiled drunk makes alot more sense than when he's a king. Think they made him fat, because of all the drinking and didn't bother to make another model.

Leliana is fine, being better when you have the Sebastian DLC, she actually says about the Warden romance in that.

Zevran is pretty good also, considering they have changed the elves, he looks near enough the same.

Nathaniel Howe is the best one, mostly because of the mission you do.

The idea that I am Iron Man is completely and utterly....*looks at speech notes*....Truth is; I AM Iron Man. *plays Iron Man theme song*

they over did it. Hard to enjoy them when Hawke ends up meeting 90% of the people my Warden knew.

Unless Thedas is about the size of Australia it's stupid.

Hardly 90%. The original Sten does not appear. Wynne does not appear. No Oghren. And no Morrigan of course. Leliana makes sense if the story arc between the games is what I think it is. Anders is clearly a key character in the DA2 story line. Alistair is the only gratuitous appearance for the DAO ending where he is king. I never kept the ending where he lives but is exiled but if he does appear in the The Hanged Man then, it is very appropriate.

I would prefer to get 100% appearance of DAO characters in cameos. It is a suitable reward for playing the previous game. Conceivably some people playing DA2 may not have played DAO. The appearances would then be an incentive to play the previous game.

My issue was with Alistair was the old ball and chain line for my Cousland princess consort who Alistair was very much in love with. Don't know who wrote that but it was incredibly lame and not humorous at all. Also the save game import is a mess. GW Alistair referred to my very alive Dalish elf who he was very much in love with as dead. Loved Zevran. Want some modding tools to change his looks (the only character that looked better was Flemeth). My Leliana was also modded. I am glad that someone modded Anders so he looked like he did in Awakening. I did not like his new look.

I missed some little dwarf with a heart of stone and some other little lady who somehow (I hope) refuses to completely die. Shale was fantastic for obvious reason; Sigrun had a sense of decency, honesty and good nature that I have not seen in any other character.

And I wonder what happened to some other Qunari who could get an answer, but probably got back home with many more questions...

Morrigan plays on a different level. I am curious to see the possible interactions of her being alive. Especially if her character trully changes in a romance/friendship situation.

 I liked the cameos.
Every time I met one of the characters I was like...
"Hey, come on, join my party!
Where... where are you going?"
:(

Well, at least Zevran was there at the end...

Leliana was the big surprise.
NO oghren, not even a hint, that was a little sad. Between varric and oghren, i take oghren.
Sten, was there, killed him many times...so i wouldnt call kill, more like defeat because he appears again when isabela comes back with the relic ( he is the one who takes it away).

Zevran wasn't with me at the end. I did his quest, killed the crows and he ran off to Antiva again.  There were many Stens, but not Origins Sten.

Sten is a title not a name...So in fact, you did NOT kill Sten from Origins.  You may have killed a Sten...But not The Sten. Posted Image

actually you end up killing more then one "Sten" which just further proves this true.

unless you're saying "Sten" keeps coming back to life.  But even that makes it false because BioWare has said that "Sten" from Origins was NOT retconned to having horns..because hornless Qunari are "special"  and since every "sten" you kill in DA2 has horns...well yah...not him.

frankly they were just too much. I love a cameo as much as anyone. But, again, running into 90% of the people my Warden knew is just plain stupid and cheapened the entire thing.

Seriously nudge nudge wink winks lose their appeal after so many times.

I thought they were really cheap, especially Zevran and by far the worst: Alistair.
The way the "Yeah, swooping is bad" line was presented made me sick for two days.

There is a rogue ability called feign death... maybe Leliana just had a second head in her purse or something.

I am not disappointed at all with any of the cameos. Personally I liked Cullen the best. His character stayed true to his beliefs throughout both games. I imported a game where Lelianna lived, Alistair was king, and Zev left the crows. So everything made perfect sense to me. I did not get to run into Nathanial but thats ok, saving that for a later replay. Overall I was very happy.

I liked seeing them. Cullen was a great character in DA2. Some of it may have been fan service, but whatever, I guess that stuff works on me. Liliana was one of my favorites from DAO, would have liked to see Oghren too.

I liked them - though it was a constant reminder that I felt that Origins had more relevance on the world of Dragon Age than any events happening in Kirkwall ever would.

Why do I say that? After all - isn't Kirkwall where the "war" starts? Sure... but Kirkwall will just be where the first shot was fired. Take any war, or revolution, ever. Yes, there is sometimes a "first shot" event - and something as large as the " 'splosion!" of the Chantry would not be forgotten - but ultimately it will be the events of the war throughout Thedas that will outshine them always.

Ferelden is forever changed by the events of the Blight - Kirkwall is just one City-State currently with little - to no - relevance in the world of Dragon Age.

Nathaniel How was cool... the others I didn't care for. Maybe it's just because of how strange Zevran and Alistair looked. Zevran had an interesting quest, but I am not sure it made a lot of sense for Hawke to meet the King of Ferelden...

This is driving me batty (Which I admit isn't hard, as I am pretty much already there. :P) But I have finished the game twice and have yet to see Zevaran, which quest or quest set did I miss?
