Well, as far as I know, he will NEVER help you kill the mages. But you can let him live. If you don't mind Sebastian bringing down the full force of Starkhaven upon you.
I find it funny that he's learned from Grand Cleric Elthina that murder in the name of justice is never justice and he vows to bring Kirkwall down to its knees.
I could understand him leaving. I could understand him when he vows to hunt Anders. But destroying a whole city is a bit overboard, and Grand Cleric Elthina would not approve.
Though I've always had him as a rival.... maybe he's different as a friend.

I would have given a great deal to have an option to turn to Sebastian and say, in Elthina's own words, "Death is never Justice" to both him and Anders right then. I think it speaks to the poorness of Sebastian's character (Not saying he's badly-written, but that he is written as a waffler - back and forth to the royal seat and the chantry - which is annoyingly what he accuses you of being if you ask for an opinion about Anders's fate) that he learned nothing from the woman he's eager to stand up for and turns on the person who has helped him at every turn - a complete stranger before that - because they make a moral choice he doesn't agree with.

It is in the final game. If you get to full rivalry with Anders and convince him that it was wrong to merge with Justice, then you have the option to get him to side with the Templars with you. It is only available if you complete the final rivalry stage and get him to admit he's been wrong the whole time.
What?! Really! Its in there...dang need a giude now how to complete a rivalmance with him

He's not. I had him at 100% friendship and he stormed off swearing that he would come back with an army to destroy Kirkwall anyway. (I mostly went "Uh? Sebastian? You know we'll be long gone, right?")

Well, except it's either been glitched or removed at the last minute

oh great, now it doesn't matter if I'm a friend to him telling him to live his life as a brother or reclaim his lands as his rival, he's going to do it anyway.

Gah what a poor guide. I take anything it says with a grain of salt.
"Can't romance Fenris and have him side with the mages." lol no.

Anyway you could tell us that is definately in the game? No one seems to be able to get the ending..

exactly. I feel the same way. Even looking at how insane Meredith was firsthand by invoking the Rite of Tranquility when the Circle wasn't responsible, he still wouldn't help (which I find it funny that Meredith said the Chantry was destroyed by Magic when it looked more like a bomb that Anders set). What Anders did was wrong yes, but Anders was also right in that as long as the Chantry exists, the mages will have no freedom and will always be treated like they're not humans/elves.
The Templars are only the arm. The Chantry is the head. Remove the Chantry and everything else falls to pieces.
Also, what are Irving's and Wynne's takes on what's happening?

Indeed because I get him to admit that Hawke was right but he never does anything different at the Last Straw and I always have to kill him if I side with the templars.

I did rivalmance with Anders and achieved pretty much everything that was required in order to get him to accept that merging with Justice was wrong and he needed to take control back from Justice, but there was no luck in making him to side with Templar. I do need an answer from dev, too.
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's bugged. He even told me he was going to see if there was anything he could do. But absolutely nothing came out of it. (Heck I even got Justice telling me to GTFO on the rival (none romance) path. But nothingdifferent happened in the least.

I just tried Rivalmance as well, and no luck. 100% Rival, with Anders admitting that he had been wrong, as well as a confrontation with Justice. A bit frustrating.

It makes perfect sense if you realise he is simply having a major temper tantrum. I doubt he would really raze Kirkwall to the ground (and none of my Hawkes actually give a crap if he does that, don't tell), but at that moment, Sebastian is hulking out and doesn't care if he's making sense, SEBASTIAN SMASH ANDERS RAWR.

Spared Anders to make him repent for his extreme measures. At least that was the reasoning in my head.
The Templar ending I hope is bugged, I don't if I agree with it or not, but if it is an ending in the game that wasn't taken out, I would like to have a chance of having it.
