I'm playing the PS3 version of the game, so no Mod suggestions please. What are the robes, startign form the beginning of Act one, after the Prolague,  other then your starting outfit that is still useful, while not looking like some ugly neutral colored dress?

starting and ending robes are the only decent looking ones IMO. I wear the starting robes through the majority of the game because they don;t look fugly and I get better drops. Every other better drop gear I have come across has been for thieves and fighters.

I like the Vestments of the Mystic from the Black Emporium once you have enough coin. They have a Rune slot too for you to place a Rune of Fortune. Prior to the Vestments since I am playing a femHawke, I just opted to run around Kirlwall in my undies. The citizens were surprisingly ok with this.

Robe of Hidden Pockets - looks like pants and shirt with a belt - drops off Sophia Dryden in Terror on the Coast quest during Chapter 1.    You need to have played Warden's Keep and left her alive to trigger the encounter.

Sorry can't find it on the Wiki so can't link any information :)

Robe of the brigand something...can't recall the name - drops off the boss in Raiders on the Cliffs in Chapter 2.  Similar look as the Hidden pockets just a different colour iirc.

Figures. Not only do I never let her live because the armor she's got is awesome, I'm playing off one of the pre-builts right now >.<

Oh my bad. I was responding more to the forum name actually...sounded like a guy's name.

Anyhow well, the logic behind my advocacy for the removal of pants still stands. Just run around as buff nudie maleHawke until you can afford some better gear. I'd suggest following this "How to get rich in Kirkwall without resorting to prostituion!" guide so you can spend more liberally for the good gear when it starts showing up.

Lol, then there's always the multiple-turn-in-quest glitch, where you can take a quest where you usually get 50 silver and 250 exp into a quest wher eyou make 100g and 7 levels ^ ^"
[[EDIT]]
And the forum name is a guy's..... My brother set up this account for him then didn't want it... thne HE charged MY DLC to HIS account..... I was so pissed......

I liked the Last descent (or w/e it was called for the mage) kept that all the way up to the Champions vestments.

I agree that nice looking robes are few and far between, the problem to me is they are more dresses than robes.

A robe is a long loose flowing outer garment, the robes in game are a) tight fitting therefore not a robe, or B) like the The Robe of the Notorious Pirate which fails on both accounts due to being both tight and short.

I like some of the dress-like robes, but I'm just tryign to me a little practical and realistic. Fact is, I like wearing dresses, but most of these arn't even GOOD looking dresses >.<

One I found while doing Fenris Act 2 quest was the Free Magus Robes, this was the first time I came across this one on a play through. Seemed like a random drop so no promises that it will.

During Act 1 I once found something called Saarebas Robe or similar (it's not the Saarebas armor with the chains and collar; it just looks like the Apostate robes you wear during the prologue, but at least it's better than all the dresses). It seems to be random, though, as I've only found it during 1 game thus far and I don't even remember the precise name. :(

Act 2 has the Heavy Velvet robes which you can by from the Mage Goods in the Gallows. These are a shirt and slacks. They're also purple, which isn't my favorite color and looks kind of funky on my male Hawke (they match his burgundy hair too well; it makes him look like something of a diva). Act 2 also has the aforementioned Robes of the Notorious Pirate. And then by the time Act 3 roles around, you can do what I do and take the Mine Massacre quest first to pick up the Champion's Robes for the rest of the game.

There's also a mod out there called No Restrictions which opens all equipment up to you. I use this and pick up a set of rogue armor that boosts mana/stamina. The tunic style of this is great. It doesn't look ridiculous for a rogue to be casting in spells in. In fact, it fits with my view of how an apostate mage trying to blend in should look.

Here are the Heavy Velvet Robes, they're what I've got on my femHawke at the moment. The boots are sold by the same vendor.
