Ohai,

I like the lore behind blood mages, etc etc - And frankly that is the ONLY thing keeping my mage as one, They are less than impressive in regards to their spells and it's really a letdown.. I don't even know if it's possible to make a spell and add it to the game, But if it is I was wondering if somebody could make me a single target blood mage spell.... No idea what it should do yet... Maybe something that causes the enemy to bleed over a period of time... or something that harneses a demon's energy from the fade and shoots some kind of bad ass ball of awesomeness at your target... I don't know but anything would be nice.. I'm so unimpressed with blood mages as they stand right now.

<3 Always :wub:

xoxo

I requested this as well, apparently there is a Blood Bolt that can be added by console.  Instructions here.

I commented in that thread that blood bolt doesn't use mana/hp--this is actually pretty easy to fix in abi_base.gda.

Yes, simply open abi_base.gda with GDApp, scroll down to the column with ID 404021, change the value in the Cost column to something (and cooldown if you want) then save and drop into your Override folder.

For compatibility, delete all other rows and add a suffix to the file name, i.e. abi_base_bloodbolt.gda

Yep. The other blood mage ability, btw, 404020 is pretty awesome as well. It's a charge up AoE attack.

edit: Actually, there is something about these two NPC abilities that I've been meaning to fix. This seems a good place to ask, since others can benefit too.

So, normally, if you're attacking someone and you hit a spell on your quickbar, it'll either automatically launch or give you the target area cursor. These two NPC abilities become greyed out when you attack anybody, and are only available when you *don't* have a current target. It makes combat frustrating. I'm hoping there's something in the gda, rather than the scripts, that deal with this.

Modifié par Emperor Iaius I, 26 mars 2011 - 06:23 .

I managed to work out how to add a manacost and cooldown to it before you replied, But what do you mean by "add a suffix" ... I tried it ingame, it casts but has no tooltip and the icon is the same as arcane bolt (which kinda sucks)

You overwrote it, any updates done by bioware concerning it or a mod simply overwriting it will remove your changes. If you remove the other abilities in that one and let only blood bolt remain, then saving it as a file named abi_base_bloodbolt.gda or something, you will only extend it and overwrite the section about said spell, instead of the whole thing.

What sort of attack? Like hemorrage? Which characters have access to these?

It's a "Blood Vortex" type thing similar to spells like Tempest. NPC blood mages can use it, it deals damage pretty rapidly (around 20-30 per second) to targets in the AOE. I'm not sure of whether it scales with weapon damage when a PC uses it.

It's not exactly like tempest in the sense that Tempest keeps going after your character casts it, while 404020 only lasts while your character is doing the attack animation. While it charges, enemies take constant spirit damage (only while they're in the target area) and when it finishes, they get stunned.

So it's different from hemorrage in that it doesn't stun them right away, and the target area is much smaller. It also looks a lot less painful because you don't stab yourself.

It's an NPC spell. That's why.

The key to using blood magic effectively is:

a) use lots of "+1 mana/hp ratio" items (there are as many as 9 in DA2 total, AFAIK) and abilities (Bloodlust);

B) use mana pool for lots of sustains;

and of course:

c) use a mod that removes ability requirements for items, so you don't have to bother with Willpower. That's something we had in DA:O and it was needlessly removed in DA2, so no harm in taking it back.

Also, once I get down to it, I'm planning to remake for DA2 my old DA:O mod which allowed Blood Sacrifice to be used on Blood Controlled enemies. Should be even more powerful in DA2 8=))

There's no reason why sacrifice shouldn't be usable on any enemy, since life drain is gone.

It's only useable on companions. Though logic dictates, since Blood Control turns an enemy into an ally, Sacrifice should be useable on them as well; alas, not in BioWare's view, thus the mod.
