In my first play through I killed him at his crib. Second playthrough...

I notice people dont know how to exactly get him, Its may be a matter of choice of dialogue when he finds emeric dead. Also its a matter of remembering what Dupuis says to you when you let him go. He says that if you find anything let him know by going to darktown. So when you find out that you mother is missing , go to darktown no matter if the map says that you have to go to lowtown and once there it will show on the map. The varric cut scene? well just bring varric with you.

The second playthrough what I just wrote happened, I didnt let him live, varric got him.

About Orsino, he did know what Quentin was doing but he did not support it, claiming it was too dangerous. However, if he had done something about it by himself without alerting the templars much would have bee avoided. Thats why in my second playthrough as a mage I sided with templars. If I aid them not only I deal with the templar corruption(eventually and earn their respect) but also end with the circle corruption in Kirkwall.

My first playthrough, I let him live after meeting him at his estate, but I never saw him again - I had more of a vested interest in locating my mother immediately, rather than track down one pain in the arse.

Second playthrough, though, I killed him at the first meeting. He tipped his had. He makes up that lie about his sister, describing her and giving the Kirkwall Killer's type... Except it in no way matches the woman he says is the killer's next victim. It made my Hawke figure that he was the Killer and was lying about the whole thing. Granted, that made him think he made a mistake about killing him when Emeric gets ambushed, but Gascard was also a blood mage who was casually summoning demons and such, he wasn't that torn up about it.

Varric took care of that piece of garbage for me.

I killed him right off the bat. The blood magic was enough to make that decision for me.

There is a note on the table when you first enter Gascard's house. It strenuously implies that Gascard helped "procure" the ladies for the crazy mage. Creepy lying bastard...

This.

It is so worth it, and kinda funny, to let Gascard live and meet him in Darktown so he goes with you to the foundry.  Then, with Varric in party, he gets taken care of.

I didn't think he was the Killer, but I took him down because he was summoning demons. Turns out, he's useless alive, so why not just go for the exp every time?

I let him live, then Varric shot him in the throat.

I let the guy live, and then thought he had fooled me when Emeric was killed by demons. Denounced him to the templars, thinking he was the killer.

Got confused when it turned out to be some other random guy... and I never even knew gascard was his apprentice until I read this thread.
Also got confused when Orsino mentioned Quentin's researches without further explanation (I sided with the mages).

When I entered the Dark Foundry on The First Sacrifice quest (in which you search for Ninette de Carrac), a mage who is not De Puis runs from the scene. I only noticed this on my second playthrough, but it confirmed for me that someone else was involved.

When I first encountered de Puis, I was suspicious because of the trunk full of women's clothes in the room with all the beds, not to mention the terrified woman. But my thought at the time was to let him live and see what he was up to. I think the Templars killed him after the scene with the dead Emeric, so I was a little confused about what happened to him. Now it all makes a more sense. It's a shame about Orsino - even though he went wacko at the end, I thought he was charming. I don't know how I missed all the clues, but his transformation took me by surprise. I really hate that there were no good mages in this game except for my own character.

I think I'll try to keep de Puis alive this time just so I can run into him again, but I'm not sure how to do it without losing friendship points.

Live because I was not sure about him. Then Varric has taken care of him.

I let him live, he was a blood mage like Hawke. Later on he sent some reward & a letter, thanking for sparing him.

I was playing my character as someone who favors mages, but hates and distrusts blood mages, so she killed him.

I did both. I let him live when confronting him at his home in Hightown and then when Mama Hawke was abducted, I took Varric with me for a little quick justice with Bianca.Posted Image

Jubilee let him live, in spite of being very anti-blood mage. She didn't think he was guilty and she had hugely protective instincts over her family. She could understand the drive to avenge a sibling.

It'd be interesting to play as an evil character, though I don't think it's possible, given the invariable storyline. In DAO, I was a blood mage, but I kept it pretty well hidden. No one lectured me after I saved their asses from monsters. Orsino made a pretty awesome monster, you have to admit. The floppy detachable part was truly hideous!

He was Orlesian.

'nuff said

(well my mine business partner is too but he apparently makes me earn money. Leliana doesn't count, she wasn't with Hawke but other character so...)

First time, yes, felt bad later. Second time I let him live, but did not accept the blood magic ritual to find Mother.

I'm confused. So you have to have diplomatic personality to persuade Gascard fight against Quentin? Someone on previous page said they did it with a Sarcastic Hawke, but I can't do it with my Sarcastic Hawke. :(

Sarcastic Hawke cannot do it, as far as I've been told from other players. Both diplomatic (I saw it in a vid) and aggressive (I've done it personally) Hawke can persuade him.

I killed him right away. You get a bunch of XP for doing so.
Loads of XP + Blood Mage = Dead
