Within the last couple of days I have not been able to view any characters, including my own, because of an age gate that seems to have just appeared. How do I get around this, and what is the purpose of this age gate of character profile viewing?

It comes your your EA account from what I've been reading. Dragon Age is 18+, so if your EA account has a birthdate that is < 18, it protects you from viewing things on the site.

That's only the American rating, it's lower where I live and I am over that age. What should I do? I don't see why I shouldn't be able to see my own game data. I should at the very least be able to see my own page.

I agree, what is it protecting us from in the first place? its not like the content could be any more extreme than a google search?

As commercial entities, BioWare and EA are required to comply with the rules about showing M rated content to people who are under-age. The value checked does indeed come from your EA account date-of-birth. (I believe the cutoff is actually 17y) Since we cannot easily get a listing of every age limit in every country, we set it as the US limit.
