I have some items in my inventory under the Gem Icon. But I can only see them when at a merchant.
When I select the Gem icon in my regular inventory There is nothing there. How do I use those items?

What items ? If runes you need to meet with Sandal and his enchantment stuff, he's in hightown during act 1 and in Hawke's estate after that.

One was a Qunary sword the other was a tome.
I will have to double check now that I think about it - it may have been on the seller side of the merchant and not my inventory. I saw the sword and assumed it was the one I just picked up in a barrel.

probably the seller, several of those swords are in weapon merchants wares rather than containers, and tomes tend to be used automatically rather than stored in inventory
