Which is the best story that ties up the game best?

I haven't played the game yet, so no spoilers please!

Humans are by far the dominant race in the game, and so you'll fit in most as a human noble, especially during a certain part of the main quest later on in the game.

Don't let that stop you from playing the other races, though. I liked both dwarf origins, and my current mage warden is an elf.

I personally liked the City Elf origin, there is a certain feel of justice in that story but similar can be said for the human noble.

I have played throught the dwarf commoner, human noble and mage. I found the human noble to be the best, but playing like a dwarf commenor fells good too.

I've played through 2 origins - my first was Dwarf noble and is the only one I really play with and have finished DOA with - from what I recall, the Dwarf Noble origins story was quite long and enjoyable.

I've just started to play as a dwarf commoner and I've done the origins in about an hour - which seems to be a hellava lot shorter than the noble one, maybe I did something wrong as I could swear there was lots to do as a dwarf noble, and only one or two things as a commoner : /

The Dwarf Commoner and Dwarf Noble are both intimately tied to the Orzammar portion of the game, but are outsiders in most of Ferelden. Human Noble is more or less the 'default' generic run, and is often recognized and acknowledged by other humans in the game, especially nobility. Mages are heavily tied to two of the main quests. City Elves are mostly restricted from their starting area until very late in the game, and Dalish Elves are basically SOL, except that they recieve a non-hostile reception from other Dalish.

I personally recommend either of the Dwarf origins, as they are both fantastically fun and immersive.

Just play through all or the origin stories. Pick out the one you like and go from there.

Contains minor spoilers
  • Human noble: Is basically the "default" option for the game. You basically have the most strongest ties to the game's entirety. You are a noble, you'll get respected by many through out the game, and being a human noble fits perfectly with the story in the ending. Plus, if you're a human noble, you'll get the chance to be king ;)
  • City elf: You're a lower-class citizen. You'll get treated as such through the game. Doesn't have so much importance during the stor. However, the ending with the city elf is really good.
  • Dalish elf: One of the last 'true elves'. You'll get treated kinda as much as the city elf, only people are little more hostile against you. You have some nice dialoge option when your in Brecialina Forest. The epilogue for this one has quite a nice touch
  • Dwarf Commoner: From my point of view, it's the worst origin of all the origins. You're just a simple thief, and don't have much influence to the story
  • Dwarf noble: This in my opinion, is the second best option. You'll get to see Orzammar from a 'different perspective'. You get to meet the King, your father, and your siblings, and how the system works for the dwarves. It's really interesting. Plus, you'l get the chance to have a son.
  • Mage: This is one to try out. You get to experience the Circle, how it works and why. The Mage also has some good influence to the story overall.

Female Dwarven noble or Male human noble have the most complete story arc in my eyes. The two elven origins (city and dalish) are interesting too though.

Why did you not include Mage originally. It is NOT one to be missed. It has it's own unique origin that carries through the rest of the game. It is the ONLY way you can experience the game from that perspective. Not to mention the mage lore is fascinating and building your character as a mage (particularly nuker) will make you a powerhouse of damage.

Which one to try though? All of them!! I've been playing mage as my first, full playthrough and I feel that Mage maybe wasn't the best first class to use as I've reached the end of the game (final battle) and I'm really struggling, and that's on easy difficulty. So yeah, try them all, but start with Human Noble on a first playthrough (like I did) as it's sort of the "default" and will likely be the best choice while getting used to the game and it's mechanics.

I agree with Raoune in the female dwarf noble. It has this bittersweet feeling in it.

I imagine you've already started playing the game, but if not I'd suggest starting with the human noble origin. The human noble has the best story attached to it, IMO, and ties in more closely with the main plot than the others.

The Dwarven noble origin would be a close second. It is also very well written but doesn't tie in as much with the main story as the human noble origin.
