The answer's obvious then, isn't it.
Sigrun heard about BioWare removing all female dwarves from existence and arranged a conspiracy to have Anders' cat taken away from him. This would lead Anders to become so desperate that he merges with Justice and becomes the abomination that eventually nukes the Chantry in Kirkwall and kicks off a massive civil war.

The lesson? Don't **** with female dwarves.

Your Warden Commander did.

seriously doubt that considering (s)he's the one that gave Anders the damn cat.

Well that's what Anders says.  He also says that the Warden thought it was making him too soft and Anders explains he gave it to a friend in Amaranthine.

Wardens. Not the warden.

I don't know who took the cat away, but the Warden-Commander ends up with him, as she has him in Golems and Witch Hunt.

Probably non-canon, since I still had Vigilance in Golems and Witch Hunt, despite it being stolen by the Crows.

In all fairness, it doesn't actually stated *when* Vigilance was stolen, and WH only takes place a year after Origins (6 months after Awakening), Golems was before that even. Thus plenty of time for it to be stolen.

Also, in-game circumstances are higher-up on the canon hierarchy than epilogue slides. Anders himself is testament to that.

Ser Pounce-A-Lot was still in my Warden's inventory when I walked through the Dark Portal with Morrigan so I guess the Warden did.

re: guy who was making timeline jokes.

we don't know how long it took hawke to get to gwaren to take the boat to kirkwall, and the boatride supplosedly took months i believe.

also, doesn't it seem like it would have been quicker to go through west hill, jader, or highever than to go way down to gwaren and take a boat to kirkwall?

The ship cutscene from Gwaren specifically states that they're on the ship for 3 weeks, I think.

David Gaider took away Sir Pounce-A-Lot.

I kinda figured that was obvious.

I mean, after all, DA2 starts with the destruction of Lothering, which is in the beginning of DAO. DAO lasts a year. Hawke spends a year working before getting into Kirkwall. Once in, Hawke meets Anders. Anders, who was a companion in DAA. Which took place 6 months after Origins. Which means it was taking place during the time Hawke meets Anders. Which means Anders shouldn't be there yet. Which means he must have left in a real hurry and taken a very fast ship. Which left no time to write cat-related dialogue.

Alternatively, Mike Laidlaw did it.

After all, Anders had a cat given to him by the Warden Commander, who he met in DAA. Which took place 6 months after DAO. Which lasted a year. Which is how long Hawke spends working before getting into Kirkwall. Which is when Hawke meets Anders. Who should still have been a Vigil's Keep. With his cat. Unless he left right after the events of Awakening. When the only Wardens in Ferelden were the Warden Commander, Ohgren, Velanna, Sigrun, Nathaniel and Anders (depending on who you recruited/killed, of course). Which means one of them took his cat. Probably because they didn't want to make cat animations for DA2.

You're probably right about animations. Damn you, Gaider and Laidlaw, you evil, bad, cruel people.
Um, I'm a cat person. Having a dog but no cat is kinda... Sad. For DA2 I really want a battle cat. It would pounce enemies and claw their eyes out, a-la overwhelm ability from DAO. Ah, dreams, dreams.

IIRC, it was supposed to have been out of your inventory in WH, but it either bugged out or they never got around to implementing it...

Well what do you expect really. Snooty Orlesian.
Is it just me or is every Orlesian Warden so far a colossal ass?
Stroud is a hateful little jerk, and Riordan was a twit who doesn't volunteer important information until it's too late, and earns a Darwin Award for his death.

In Riordan's defense, he makes it relatively clear that he thought you already knew about the archdemon, considering his line about "pressing reasons" to induct Loghain. Also, his suicidal jump onto the archdemon is a reason that he can't just fly away when you're winning.

But yeah, Stroud is a total DBag.

Anders's post-Awakening/pre-DA2 story is one of those things that, for my own part, I accept in broad strokes rather than trying to reconcile ever single detail. Anders merges with Justice, leaves the Wardens for Kirkwall, and gave up his cat. I don't feel like I need to know more than that.

My Warden would never have made him give up the cat as she was the one who gave it to him in the first place (and remember, at the time, he suggests to you that he probably can't keep it--it was really all your idea).

Flemeth took the cat. Once again she is initiating all of the major events in Dragon Age.

Don't **** with females period. It rarely ends well. cats get lost, nads get stomped, and everybody hates you in the end.

Obviously the Templars kidnapped Ser Pounce Alot and blamed the Wardens knowing that Anders would become a sociopath afterwards so they could kill him.

It was the perfect crime.
