Who had the awful idea of taking Bioware's newest game and forcing all their paying customers into this awful website of headache inducing agony?

The crappy colour scheme alone is enough to throw a man into siezures....the poor search capabilities and cramped framelike style is giving me flashbacks to early 90's geocities sites.

Awful move.

Search is currently disabled and is being fixed. Retro is back in, so it fits in perfectly with those 1990ish site designs.

The new forums are indeed terrible, a serious step backwards from their old webforums.

No Search atm.

No Dev post button

The damn web layout was made for 1024x768 and the grey borders do not scale back if you have a high resolution screen <-- terrible!!

No small icons for threads either.

Seriously bioware go install vBulletin and stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

The small font and fixed width forums bug me the most.

yeah, I have almost a foot of wasted screen space on my 23'' monitor running on high resolution.

You're right Fester, the complete lack of a functioning search does fit in perfectly with those early 1990 websites.

I've got a 42'' on 1920... Imagine how these seas of grey feel. I could litteraly fit my whole head in :-/

Less than a third of the screen is actually devoted to text, the rest is eaten by the atrocious layout and huge icons.
I spent quite a bit of time on the previous forums, I doubt I'll bother with these ones. They are sickening.

Wow, so I'm not the only one who thinks this website fails. Add the fact that we're pretty much forced to use it for DLC etc...hate.....

blech. No search, poor layout, too few listings per page, and navigating the "Other" areas is a nightmare. I didn't know that the 1.01 patch was out except finding it in a forum post on the original boards. I tried finding the download area here to know where to look for future updates, but couldn't. Only way I got it was by link in that original post.

I agree with you guys. The default site theme is enough to bring chills down my spine, thank god you can replace it with Dragon Age theme. Hopefully they will iron out the kinks.

In the mean while i have one question, will Bioware keep this "SocialNetwork" just for Dragon Age - Origins or do they plan to transfer their other titles (ME, Kotor, JE etc..) to this format as well?

I just wanted to chime in to second and third and 4th all that.

Terrible forum, awful layout, next to no functionality at all!

I'm mad.

I personally hate how this site and the DLC Authentication Servers are all wrapped up into one poorly working, shoddy little family. It's literally cost me over 20 hours of play due to authentication bugs breaking my save files.

My response to posts like this had been that this was a "Beta" site. However, they took the "Beta" off for some reason and all the same glitches remain. Curious decision.

I just wish I could manage my characters, and remove the ones on here I no longer have, as the character update on here is really slow, and there are a lot of other problems too etc....

I was all right with all the hassles I had up until now, but now I'm not allowed to view my own profile because of the new age gate. I'm old enough to play the game in this country...

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy.  I would however like to point out several items:
  • Forum search has been re-enabled for over a week.
  • managing characters is expected to be re-enabled later this week, once the backend server issues at EA are resolved
  • 95% of the character updating issues we have investigated were due to the game not having uploaded the data - nothing to do with the website. Workarounds have been posted elsewhere.
  • 70% of the users of this site are running with < 1500px wide displays, and the layout is optimised for that group.
  • this forum software was purchased - BioWare is not reinventing the wheel, we are avoiding doing so.
Overall, this site is a work-in-progress, and BioWare is definitely listening to any and all feedback.  Thigns are being fixed/improved as fast as humanly possible.

I just hope they can sort out the Manage Screenshots soon. I am tired of having 100/100 screenshots supposedly uploaded and only 27 actually showing under Screenshots. I want to have my Player Profile up to date with my main characters screenshots, not a bunch of 'lost' ones from my first playthrough. Other than that, I wish they'd put BETA back in their header. SocialNetwork is not out of beta in my eyes--not with all the bugs that I see.

[*]I had no idea search was re-enabled.  It was broken for long enough that I haven't tried it.
[*]My characters still don't update.  The workarounds don't seem to work for me, but my non-existant (to this website) toons are getting achievments that show up on this site.
[*]You guys got ripped off.

No offense but did BioWare decide to limit the screen width of Dragon Age because 70% of the PC players had screens less than 1500px in size? Of course they didn't, that would just be stupid, right? The same logic applies here. It's simple for anyone with a bit of web knowledge to make a site based on percentages rather than fixed-width pixel measurements. It's half arsed to go fixed width.

If you honestly paid a third party for this software (my god say it isn't so) then you should get them to bring it in to the mid-1990's atleast and make it more accommodating for people of all screen sizes. It's just plain silly like this.

The 1500px thing is the wrong perspective.

I am not advocating for a larger fixed width website, I am advocating for a website with a style layout that scales with the browser resolution. vBulletin and MANY websites do this, but the theme on the bioware social site does not.

This is a bug or poor css/style design and should be easily fixable.

Please reference my screenshot in my first post for what I am talking about.
