I have experienced a bug with the Spiral Eye item set in Act II. I have been unable to find an existing topic or help in the forums (at least nothing more than a passing mention of such a bug) and hence am posting this. Also, as this is currently the only item set in my inventory, I am unsure if this bug extends to other item sets. The details are as follows:
- First, to 'qualify' for the bug apparently one has to equip the whole set at least once.
- the whole set need not be in the inventory for the bug to occur (had dumped my set into storage)
- when the set is removed, the bonus will (correctly) be removed from the abilities screen
- However, when loading a save game where Hawke is not wearing any piece of the set, the set bonus shows up as a passive ability in the 'abilities' screen alongside the 'mabari' ability.
- Despite not wearing the complete set, its' bonuses apparently still apply.
The only way (that I have found) to remove the ability is to equip, then unequip the full set. However, this removes the set bonuses twice (similar to Isabela's friendship bug), meaning that Hawke loses two points of magic and fourty mana. While losing the stats once is only annoying, I fear that this will reoccur and stack (once again similar to the Isabela bug), as well as interfering with future item sets.
A workaround I have discovered is to equip part of the set. For example, I was able to avoid the bug by loading a save where Hawke was wearing only the gloves and hood.

Unfortunately, I can't point to the thread, but it was confirmed that this issue is the same underlying bug as the Isabella and Sebastian bugs. Hopefully it'll be addressed in the patch, whenever that might be.

Hmmm... I'm glad I saw this BEFORE I put that on my mage. So does this bug only apply to the spiral eye armor set? I already did 2 runs on a rogue and a warrior- used all their armor sets and never saw a bug. And I did pay attention to my abilities buffs ever since I had to work around the Isabela bug. Could I use some of the spiral armor pieces and not have a glitch as long as I never equip the whole set?
