In my most sincere opinion, I can honestly see Morrigan's child being a playable character or a party member. And if the child is, according to the timeline, roughly 10 years old then we would have another Wild Flower from Jade Empire on our hands. An incredibly powerful and gifted youngster.

Now, before anyone starts nitpicking that argument apart that the OGB won't happen if you didn't knock up Morrigan, her child can still be a companion or playable character. Ten years is a long time to go, and she could easily have born someone a child during that time without an Old God's soul. The child could simply be a powerful mage born from another powerful mage.

The child isn't a dragon. The child has the soul of an old god. The child is still human or half dwarf (depending).

Dude its either a darkspawn or a dragon in no way is an old god human elf or drawf.

Morrigan wanted the untainted soul of an old god.  Why would it be a darkspawn?  I'd even go so far as saying that archdemons aren't darkspawn but a form of ghoul but I don't really have much backing for that, it's just a feeling.  Also, would the soul really morph the embryo into a dragon?  From what I understand that wasn't what Morrigan was aiming for at all.  Could Morrigan even give birth to a dragon?  Remembering the cultist's area from the Temple of the Sacred Ashes, aren't dragons hatched?  Is it a mammalian dragon?

Why can't the soul of an old god be born into a human form?

Oh sweet Santa Christ......

If someone DIED then so did the OGB.
So if the warden dies killing the archdemon then.... what does that mean?

THEN SO DID THE OG SOUL.
END OF STORY.

If they make that choice pointless.
THE SINGLE BIGGEST CHOICE in origins I am done with Dragon Age for good.

Perhaps but not inclusively.  There is still WH.  Morrigan going through the mirror could also be used to retrieve the OGB soul or spirit if they want too.

The OGB could be anybody walking around even if the warden is dead.  If Morrigan and Flemeth were trying to capture it's soul it's more than likely that others will do the same with the other two arch demons.

They could even use a new blight in a future game to show what could happened with another mage such as Morrigan some other way doing the same ritual.   We have no idea which direction they are going to take.

If the OG soul still was running around then it would have gone into another darkspawn.

They would literally have to retcon out a vital part of their world and make Origins pointless then.

Not everyone knocked Morrigan up.
Sadly a lot of people dont get that.

We do get it.

What you're not getting is Morrigan going through the mirror in WH.  We have no idea where that mirror takes Morrigan or any warden who goes through it or for what purpose.   The Orlesian Warden is going to carry on where you're dead warden stopped at the end of DAO.  He is also another option for the child.  The mirror itself could be used to retrieve the AD's soul from the fade.  You don't know that nor do I.  You're also forgetting there are two more Arch Demons that could arise and the ritual could be done later for the purpose of an OGB being in any future stories.

Morrigan could be it's mother and she may not.  It would interesting if Flemeth got to one also.

So in a way I agree with you.

What part of Bioware left it opened ended in the way they wrote the lore don't you get? Have you played Witch Hunt?  They have the creative leeway, not you and I.

I think her child will have dragon shape shifting abilities and yes it can be born in human form as well.  It could also be born as a dragon as well.  We don't really know.

I'm not clear myself if the Arch demon is already tainted when the darkspawn free it or not.  I was first under the impression they aren't tainted until the darkspawn find them.  I'm thinking, darkspawn actually taint an Arch demon.  I'm might be wrong on this.

The whole reason for the DR is so her child can't become tainted or is immune to the taint when it is born. This was my understanding.  This is why she needs a warden.

Morrigan's child was captured by Flemeth and killed so she could absorb his power. Because of this, he will not be appearing in any future DA titles.

More to the point there were no other wardens in the country since they were going to let Fereldan burn.

I am confident that Bioware can write something beyond DRAGON AGE 3: THE OGB NEEDS MORE DIAPERS!

Really, players had no idea Riordan was in the country either until you free him from the dungeon.   You have the option to question Alistair on this.  Orlais wasn't that far away to run for help.  Loghain is the one that stopped the Orlesian wardens from entering.

I can see this happening more so than saying Morrigan didn't have relations with someone so therefore it didn't happen.

Edit:

Just thought of something, what if Flemeth did the nasty with another warden off screen before you choose to kill her or not, she could have been pregnant herself.  A piece of her is safeguarded down the line anyway.  Flemeth is powerful enough to retrieve the OBG from the fade or wherever souls go when they die.

One way they might do it is having a group of reborn Old Gods as more of a collective entity than individuals, whose precise number depends on whether the Dark Ritual was performed or not, but whose influence on the story remains much the same regardless.

OGC would be impossible to have as a companion unless they retcon'd the story again for anyone who DIDN'T do the dark ritiual ending. So yeah, we'll probably never hear about Old God Child and Morrigan again.

Bioware has already said when Witch Hunt was released that they would be returning to Morrigan's story.  They said her story isn't over.  Their words not mine.  There was such an outcry with the way WH ended they came on the forums and gave this information.

They can also change their minds and just drop the storyline.  Who knows at this point.

Playing as Morrigan's child sounds funny to me. I like it! Reminds me of a game when you play as a cherub. You can't act directly, but, you can posses others so you can act through them.

..Seriously? Leliana's "resurrection" is supposedly gonna be explained.

Morrigan getting the OGB really can't be seeing as the Warden is *DEAD* if the Warden had kicked his/herself out of his/her grave with an enraged look on his/her face *then* the arguement "oh she did it anyway* could be made.

If Morrigan used the mirror to go directly into the Fade and into the Black City does that mean she will become a corrupt magister like the final boss in Legacy? Interesting to see that funny thing stick out her chin.

Or maybe her baby will be like that.

Or maybe the baby WAS the boss from Legacy because Morrigan went back in time!

See I can come up with crazy theories too.

Why would a warden die then? If you do not do the Ritual you sacrifice a warden.
While I like the potential of the OGB story, it’s unlikely to work without a retcon, and it was said they would not try to devalue that particular choice.

It'd be kind of neat to get the OGB as a player companion. Maybe for those games in which the OGB wasn't born an alternate companion character could be available?

Well it has been suggested the warden could have died from battlefield injuries.  The explosion from the arch demon knocks players off their feet.

I was wondering when these threads were going to start. Call it a hunch, (and more often than not my hunches are pretty much accurate) but I dont think you will be controlling OGB in any form for any DA games in the near future. Folks really need to give up this unhealthy obsession they have with Morrigan's child. That's not to say that the story is completely done in that regard, but playing as or having the child in your party is pretty close to %0.

I'd say I hope this is the last thread I'll see on the OGB but honestly, there will probably be at least a hundred more (literally give or take a thread or two) like it before ME3's release. (Just to put a time frame on it).

@ Ryzaki - I dont care HOW they explain Leliana's "resurrection".  I still believe, and forever will believe, it was lazy writing on the Devs behalf of not wanting to write in another character to take Leliana's place if you killed her in Origins.  Admittedly Im not as fanatical as I was about it in the beginning.  Now I just laugh and shake my head every time she gets a mention at all.

I fail to see how a debate on what possibilities there could be for this being retconned even comes close to an unhealthy obsession.  I for one don't really care whether it occurs or not, but I do like to ponder all possible scenarios and if they are feasible, and it appears there are many that enjoy the sameImage IPB

Let's not use that "dirty" word...You know...."retcon".  Im just now starting to get over Leliana being resurrected....Let's not throw yet ANOTHER decision I made in the previous game out the window as well lol

His first quest could be dealing with his own existential quandary..

It would take some amazing writing to make that (the OP) good. They've made a lot out of player choices and consequences (in PR), and there's only so many times they can undo the player's choices (with ret-cons or just work-arounds (of which I would consider most of the "ret-cons" so far to be)) before people feel like they aren't actually making meaningful choices at all.

A lot of people seem to think the only way the dark ritual consequences could be dealt with is something earth-shattering, I'm not sure why everyone assumes it would be that important. We don't even know what a soul is, assuming that's what's actually involved at all, for all anyone here knows the child is just a human. Or maybe it could be like Flemeth (I bet she's Dumat, mark my words! ^_^); powerful, but still hardly world-shattering.

That said, if origin stories make a return it's not inconceivable that one of them may be her child, though that would lean towards my idea of the child being a normal human, or at least no too powerful. I'm also not sure it would be old enough by DA3, but that depends when DA3 actually is, so who knows?

Lol, ok Image IPB.  For the record I never killed Leliana (didn't even know it was possible, not that I would want to)  so the first I knew about it was when people said that she was ***that word that should not be used** Image IPB
