Why can't we play Arrival before Horizon mission?

Maybe i'm just clutching at straws but it does seem weird that this is the LAST story driven DLC for ME2 and if the VS wasn't included or mentioned then it would be a bit off.
Anyway Tuesday can't come quick enough for me lol.

Fair point but it still doesn't explain why it's meant to be played after Horizon before or after the SM. It does make sense for it to be played after the SM but why not have it unlock after the SM instead of before? Overlord isn't major in terms of story and it doesn't feature any returning characters unlike LoTSB.Fiery Phoenix wrote...
Honestly, doing Arrival at ANY point prior to the suicide mission would, in my opinion, mess up the ongoing story and its progression. For a start, consider the brief cutscene at the very end of the game and associate it with Arrival when done before the suicide mission.
There must be a reason why it's unlocked after Horizon and not after finishing the SM. LoTSB was intended to be played post SM and Arrival looks like it is too but it still doesn't make sense why it's not available to the players pre Horizon unless the VS was involved in someway.

Overlord can be done in the first half of the game and so can Zaeed's/Kasumi's Loyalty mission. The only way they can be completed in the first half of the game is because there have no relevance to the rest of the ME2 story but LotSB does plus it includes Liara so it makes sense that it's only available after Horizon because that's when you meet up with Liara in the second part of the game.Fiery Phoenix wrote...
I do not suppose there is any in-game reason for that. The majority of the game opens up after Horizon anyway, so why wouldn't Arrival be part of that?
I have no doubt that arrival would of been available post Freedoms Progress if it was not for some connection to the VS. It would be pretty dumb to play Arrival before landing on horizon if that was the case. Anyway all this speculation is making me even more hyped for Arrival

Without sarcasm, DarthVadoc -- yeah, that's a pretty thin reed you've got there. I think the wait for Tuesday has a lot of us a little frayed.

Ah yes, that is a probability i completely overlooked thatroyceclemens wrote...
It's the Xbox disc change. I don't think you can access Arrival before Horizon because the location isn't on disc one.

How do you even know arrival can be played before the suicide mission? Is it in the arrival footage that went public recently (yesterday I think)
I did not (and will not) watch it to avoid spoilers naturally

But yeah as to why it takes place post horizon it would make sense if the VS is involved in the mission...but...you know what..I actually cannot think of any other story based reason for it it be placed after horizon.

Or perhaps there is [small] virmire survivor bonus content that Arrival unlocks only available to those who pursued a relationship with Ashley or Kaidan. It's possible... could just be another lousy email. Most people including reviewers wouldn't have any knowledge of it.
Maybe Ash might finally send Shepard a vid-mail... a raunchy one maybe?

BioWare did confirm in the 10-minute GameSpot preview that the VS would, in fact, NOT make an appearance in Arrival.
