I'm looking for a mod that speeds up combat.

I think it's ridiculously slow. I could wake up from a 2 hour sleep with a hangover, and still attack faster than these guys.

It's just a cooldown timer right? Can't you just shave off a few seconds?

It's not just a cool down timer, the 6-second round is pretty basic to the engine and the d20 system it was based on. As your character levels up, you gain more attacks during each 6-second round. So while starting characters look slow, only attacking once every 6 seconds, higher level characters look quicker, attacking 2 or 3 times in the same 6-second round.

Or 12 times in 6 seconds. Or 18 times in 6 seconds.

Of course, only 3 attacks are ever animated.

Speeding up combat would also make some buff-type spells last theoretically longer too. Let's look at a buff that lasts 60 seconds. With 6 second rounds that would be a 10 round buff. Faster combat would ruin the balance and make your buff last more rounds.

Essentially a mod that were to increase round speed would also have to adjust spell durations and such. I don't think many people would be willing to spend that much time on such a small mod.

.... You can slap me if you find one later though :S

You mistook NWN2 for DAO. Not the same game. Patience is a virtue in more than just your gaming life.. oh wait! nevermind

Like Haplose insinuated, this is really a matter of how the engine handles combat animations, and not a real deficiency of the underlying rules. A more lively idle combat animation, or maybe special 6-second long clumsy attack animations for low-level characters would make everything look better.
I remember that someone did an awesome mod for NWN1 that added in five different sets of combat animations for different fighting styles (kendo, western fencing, ninjitsu, barbarian, etc). Maybe now that the granny mess is sorted we'll see something like that for NWN2.

A good turn-based mod will fix everything.

Harumph!
