No games for them. :*-(

Don't be sad RinpocheSchnozberry.

I appreciate your concern but there are many options for players like myself. No need to worry.

Really? Your going down the name calling route? How does this benefit your side of the fence when you stoop to such low levels... I do hope you don't expect earning anyone's respect for such a thing.

Like I said earlier in this topic all the fighting over who's right and wrong isn't about what people like or do not like it's all about how you all keep talking to each other, the OP for literally singling out people who did not like the game in an aggressive manner and the high defensive stances of the group mentioned after being attacked by the others, in-between the above type poster comments insulting people.

People do have legitimate gripes with this game. If you look at the sales, they have dropped off significantly from the first to the second week for all platforms, but especially the PC.

But my question... and it's asked honestly... isn't that normal?  I mean, all of the sales projections I see about video games are in terms of four to six months, not days or weeks.  Don't video games, especially non-sports games, drop off after their "opening weekend" like movies do?  I am curious for some context.

In this topic we have people using insults and accusing people for disliking the game and being haters.

You see the irony here?

Yet another topic that is just fueling the flame war between two parties instead of discussing what was good/bad in the game.

Just like most other March releases?

All three (360, PS3 and PC) dropped more than 25 percent in sales from the first to second week, with the PS3 dropping 38 percent, the PC dropping 26 percent and the 360 dropping 33 percent.  While the PC's drop is less, it hasn't sold nearly as many units as the PS3 and 360.

We'll have to wait and see if this drops further in the third week, stabilizes or increases.  I expect this game will die with Skyrim and other RPG's come out this summer/fall.

wonder why they make this forum in the first place.
for flame war that boost marketing.

Does anyone working in bioware actually get affected by opinions on web or do they read and tries to adjust their plans?

All these opinions are actually not that useful and kind of pointless as bioware's gonna do what they think would cost little as possible and earn much as possible any way.

Tell me I'm wrong.

You are right, only games released close to the holiday season have subsequent weeks increase in sales.

Speak for yourself.

Hard difficulty and a 2H warrior. I changed it to casual during boss fights, because I didn't want to constantly mash for fifteen minutes. What tactics did this game require? You couldn't even do anything, because enemies would just keep on coming wave after wave. I gave orders to my companions, activated the abilities and mashed X. That's all it took.

In Origins, all I did was use Blood Wound or Fireball.  I played the game so much I can picture every encounter: enemies typically filter themselves from one location, my tank stands in their way, and my mage (or my Arcane Warrior, soloing the game) casts Blood Wound or Fireball on enemies that didn't have blood.  Then I just let my party (or, again, myself if I was soloing) auto attack things to death, because anything else was unnecessary.

In Dragon Age 2 (on Nightmare) I have to worry about much, much more.  I have to worry about my party's positioning, I have to worry about finding my own choke points after we get ambushed, I have to worry about threat, crowd control, abilitiy cooldown management (never know how many waves you'll get!), and in the case of bosses, I have to find out what abilities they have outside of "hits harder than average" or "use the litany when someone shouts "use the litany!"

And Dragon Age is the kind of game that was always going to attract a lot of pre-orders since the first installment gathered a lot of critical acclaim and even won awards.

Sure.  But we'll see in week 3 if these games drop by another 20-30 percent.

Many people are afraid of change, if DA2 came before DAO, you'd probably get the same response from the community

Yes, I understand your point.  I'm just saying I honestly don't know if that's normal or not.  Especially with all the pre-orders... which I assume most sales figures posted on various websites include in the first week's sales?  Maybe that's not a fair assumtion.

I wish a lot of people would read their posts out loud before they submit them, pro or con. I'm sure a the long-winded melodrama and the snarky one-liners would be kept of a minimum. Not that I'm not guilty of that sometimes myself.

But you have to see it from the other side too, the people who come here and say they didn't like the game they bought and a lot of them actually explaining why are still getting flamed by others who liked it constantly trying to argue bits and bobs from every sentence typed in order to somehow force them into saying they liked it too. So shouldn't side with fans of the game when the same applied to people who didn't like it.

The main anger on these forums is not about who liked and disliked it, it's about how everyone talks to each other being aggressive making the other person defensive. Your post is aggressive so people are going to be defensive now, the vice versa applies too.

This.  It pretty such sums up most of these kinds of threads.

True.  I don't like DA2, but I don't hate it.  I just hope this game doesn't tank so bad that DA3 is shelved or changed even more.

Excellent observation.  I'd hope the pre-order sales, combined with how EA has diversified the franchise (Facebook partnerships, the rumored animated movie, novel tie-ins, merchandising) will make DA viable for years to come, even if DA2 isn't the best seller some hoped for.

My point is the drop offs for Dragon Age 2 are normal and within the range of other games released in this time period.

Just a reminder...if you feel people are personally attacking you on the forum, (and not just offering a counter opinion) you should report the posts and move on. The forum gives us the tools to do this. Make use of them.

I will make one reply ...for now.. to address / clarify my thread.

There are some threads started that for whatever the reason behind them took to this style " lynch-mob" tactics to get their point across. The point of this thread had nothing to do with a difference of opinion at all. It was in fact about taking a view point / opinion and using that opinion ( positive or negative ) and directly assualting a specific person. I.E. Mike Laidlaw.  I explained the practice of these tactics in the start of this thread as pure stupidity . Now I am not responding to Dragoonlordz in this reply. I am using the statement they used because they are in fact more level headed than most users.

I stand by what I posted.
