If they ever have shadowcats or tiger-like creatures as enemies in a DA game then they should let us have a cat companion that uses the same model (but a unique colour and maybe you can put warpaint on it.)

I would like to see you put war paint on a cat.

great thread!

Mabari is nice but more cats would be most welcome. 2 out of 3 kitties agree, the 3rd doesn't care.

Only kitty focused DLC can redeem the game now. Perhaps retell Anders' story from Ser Pounce-a-lot's perspective.

oh my! that would be fun

I just lol'd at this rant. Sorry but your rant is just so wrong. Dogs are bigger than cats. The only cat you could possibly take along with you in a battle would be something along the lines of a panther, cheetah, lion or puma or something like that. Taming one would be nearly impossible, those things are dangerous. Dogs while I'm not a dog lover are better for companions in the game. Unless you have some kind of super large domesticated battle cat, it's impossible to bring one into battle with you.

I can see that happen in a place like Rivaini, or antiva

Well, it's said that the Tevinter Mage's are responsible for the Mabari, so why couldn't they have made guard cats as well? Really, how many Wizards have dog familiars?

Actually, the lack of cats in Dragon Age isn't due to neglect on the part of Bioware so much as it is financial.  The cats, this is well-known, have a much better union then dogs do.  Ser-Pounce-A-Lot himself was only signed after length contract negotiations that included about $3,000 worth of scratching posts, gourmet cat food three times a day and a trailer that was at least twice as big as the Allister's.

The dogs, however, have a considerably less litigious labor union, and simply demand a warm, dry place to sleep, food (or something food-like), and the occasional scratch behind the ears or under then chin.

I think in a dialogue or banter in DAO, someone said that only the Orlesians had horses. =[

I would love to have a cat shapeshifter form, in addition to the suggestion someone made of having a cat companion.

The only reason I'm glad the games are lacking in cats is so people don't kill them out of entertainment like they do with Mr. Bigglesworth, and all of the other cats classified as non-combatant critters in WoW.  Video game or not, it pissed me off.  I know I shouldn't get upset about things like that, but even though I try not to, it's something that I can't stop getting annoyed about.

And thank you, TheJediSaint for making this topic. <3 I didn't think that anyone else would be slightly bothered or at least notice the lack of cats (excluding zombie kittens and the three or four other non-interactable cats at the Cousland's estate and Arl Eamon's Estate.

Thank the Maker this topic was brought back to life.

The lack of Ser Pounce-a-lot in DA2 was egregious, but it also means he's safe from the problem of possibly being dead like Anders for DA3. Perhaps we can finally find out why this particular cat can bring people back to life...
