Ive seen quite a few files that let you alter CharGen, but all the default hawke faces are set to the end and make the family, imo, look horrible. Is there anyway to alter these files to move them to the #3/4 slot instead of the end?

Yep.  Just open the chargen with Notepad or equivalent and re-arrange the resource name lines in the heads section to your liking.  The order you place them in will be the order they appear on the slider.  This works for all the other sections of the chargen as well.

As an alternative to your specific problem, start with a Iconic Hawke to get normal family appearance.  You can change Hawke's face later with the magic mirror.

Oh so tweaking the face later wont later the family base? that will save having to toy with files thanks alot

you could also use this mod by ELE08 to give the default family no matter which preset you choose.
