i apologize if this has been posted, however, my search only found one similar thread that did not answer my question.
All of a sudden, during combat, I can not seem to use any of my fire or ice spells - they are shaded and when I select/inspect them it says "temporarily disabled" - I was using them perhaps an hour ago and now suddenly, during any combat I can not use them. Nothing has changed, party hasn't changed.....can't figure it out?

Any insight would be appreciated as I'm quite useless right now....

Thanks,Posted Image

is your mage currently doing an action. ie casting a spell when you paused? or are you facing away from mobs and its a DD spell?

Do you have a spirit healer spec. If you enable healing aura it will disable your offensive spells ( esentially all the spells in elemental and primal with the exception of rock armor) while the sustained is active. You can still use defensive spells like mind blast/ paralysis/ sleep/ gravatic ring etc. also I have noticed some issues with targeting enemies. If you don't have an enemy targeted or are in a clear line of fire then spells like winters grasp and chain lightning wont fire.

I'd still love to know why my mage has access to all 3 specializations, and my Warrior has access to none, lol.

This game is pretty darn buggy.

Maybe you were silenced. Were you fighting templars?
Their attacks have a chance to silence you when they hit you.

Ok, how do I turn it off? My crew finished this fight for me and we walked into another and it was the same thing...still can't cast any offensive spells

bring up the pause wheel and goto 9oclock. buffs that effect your character are in there. same for companions.

If you use Makers sigh it will give you the a third spec point when resetting your stats and abilities. It also has a glitch regarding passive talents from the skill/ spell trees  where when respeccing it puts the passive perks from your base statsin the negativeand if you choose the passive again it will bring it up to 0 % as opposed to + 5 or 10 or whatever percent said passive was before.  Yet another lovely glitch brought to you by BioWare!!  Where you pay 60.00 to be the beta-tester for thier games.

if this is the solution you're spirit healing spells will not work now. group heal, and res come to mind.

basically you got to toggle that spec on and off if you want to keep the high dps spells active and heal your party using the extra spec spells.

Also check your tactics for your Hawke. If you switch to another character during battle and your hawke has healing aura listed as a tactic to be turned on then he/will activate it without your knowledge.   Go into the character tactics screen and see if it is. then you can change the tactics or disable it.

ok, yes, I'm a retard....that's exactly what the problem was....thanks Ron and Stevie, you guys are right - I didn't realize that the spirit healer spec was part of the toggle on/off and was indeed preventing me from my offensive spells.....phew! glad to have that cleared up! Thanks to everyone for your posts!
