This is a dicussion board.  Nobody crushes anything.  It's a place for people to exhange ideas.  Are you expecting to crush everyone who doesn't agree with you or something?  Do you imagine yourself taking your combat boot and grinding my opinion under your heel or something? Good luck with that.

I dislike the idea of only the most well liked characters coming back. I absolutely abhor Miranda in every way shape and form, she's just a ****. Tali's cool, but Jack is the best LI for maleshep. It just works, and she's much more of a real character than Miranda, Tali, Ashley and Liara. But people don't understand her character, so they hate her. BS.

I don't think it should be a popularity contest, either.  Grunt and Jacob aren't too popular, but they really have no reason to leave, so I think they are just as likely to return as Garrus, Tali, or Miranda.

I love Jack.

It will most likely depend on whether or not the writers can find something to do with the characters.

Characters like Samara who are just kinda there and had everything neatly wrapped for them at the end? Yeah, I can see them getting the boot.

I don't think a single squadmate is leaving. Who started this whole "squadmates leaving" thing? I need to find them and kick them in the ass.

I actually agree with you on maleshep and Jack. His voice acting makes him seem like this ridiculously, almost comically stable and chill guy - to the point that I can't finish a playthrough as him, because I'm used to certain moments being emotional and when he's just like "Oh yeah, by the way, why are you wearing my armor?" instead of "You've GOT to be doing that for a reason, you crazy machine... I MUST UNDERSTAND YOU," it makes me giggle. This relaxed, unshakeable attitude makes some of his romances feel less passionate, to me.

But what Jack needs is a totally calm stable guy who won't react emotionally to any of the stuff she tries to pull. I wateched their romance scenes, and for once I didn't think he was under-reacting to things. I felt like he was doing everything exactly right, and that their romance was actually really awesome. When he stands there with his big 'ol face and tells her he isn't going anywhere, she knows it's the truth.

(I'd prefer to have all the love interests back. I'd prefer to have everyone back and new characters and a unicorn pegasus and five more games and a castle.)

The reason I don't put Jack on the list is that she doesn't have a strong reason to be on the ship if she isn't a LI, and her plot was wrapped up pretty neatly. Her purpose was to reaffirm for Shep that Cerberus is really, really messed up, in case he got distracted from that. By the end of ME2 Shep has made his choice about Cerberus, so Jack doesn't have a narrative function in the next game.

(Addendum: popularity contests suck for me too... I'd sell all my squaddies but Garrus for another game with Mordin, and do so happily. But I consider Mordin one of the people least likely to return as a playable character.)

There's a cure for what ails ya - kill off the squaddies you don't like. :)

Grunt isn't a LI.

So people don't talk about him.

I don't know, I think that if you've gone through her loyalty mission, she's part of the crew. It certainly seems that way, whether you romance her or not. Especially at the very end, when you walk past her and she looks at you in that way that, she's "here to stay."

I think she'll hang out because she likes to kill things. Big things. And the Reapers are big things. She trusts Shepard (Yes, even if he sided with Miranda. Jack has more common sense than just to bail after the SM is over) and damn it, I want her and Garrus by my side when I win the damn game.

I've always liked Grunt, and Jacob is growing on me.  He's a nice guy, really.  And sane.  Sanity is a good thing to have.  Everyone else is loco guano.

Oh, I wasn't saying that there's a narrative reason for her to leave. Lord no! There aren't narrative reasons for anyone to leave, or stop fighting, other than health reasons (and Mordin still has a good decade left! And maybe there are treatments for Thane!)

I am just trying to be reasonable about the number of squadmates we are likely to get back. If we get everyone, you'll hear no complaints from me. Actually I'll probably be right here, necroing this thread.

By the way, I see a lot of people say on here that Jack has neural decay. Did I miss something... eight times through the game?

If I remember correctly it was mentioned in the Shadow Brokers dossier on her. (LotSB)

I think it's mentioned when she gets her loyalty mission 20% biotic power boost.

Ah, fair enough, its been a while since I did much with Jack tbh.  I usually play on Insanity where she's not as useful as others.

Ah, found it.

"Jack's vital signs show progressive neural degeneration, which would normally decrease her potential ability to generate mass effect fields. Instead, her ability appears to be increasing. Replacing the power module in her bio-amp with a higher-capacity prototype module would dramatically increase the strength of Jack's biotics. "

Damn. Sigh...

Bioware could just as easily ignore that or explore the ramifications in Mass Effect 3, without writing her out of the squad.

I'm a Jacob fangirl. How do you think I feel?

In the description of the research for an upgrade to Jack's biotics:

IMHO, Jack is absolutely useless in insanity. I use Grunt and then somebody (depending on the enemies I'm facing) with some tech powers, preferably overload or incinerate. Even then they are useless unless you can park them behind safe cover. Let's face it...biotics and tech powers were neutered in ME2. Soldiers with full adrenaline have a distinct advantage, especially with the new DLC weapons.

Nobody is quite certain how old Mordin is.  Even the Bioware mods have been very vague saying he is probably somewhere around 30.

Personaly I would be glad to have Jack and Jacob (yes I seriously like Jacob) along again. But sadly I must admit that I think they will get the boot if the developers have to cut some possible squadmates for practical reasons. Nearly everything is a popularity contest these days, for good and bad. Sure, some may like to bash on Tali fans (it makes them feel better themselves perhaps) but that doesn't change the fact that it's a group of consumers who knows what they want from their product, wich is a very usefull thing to know from a producers point of wiev.

But even so the developers should take some artistic liberty and choose what they personaly would think will make the best game because if the artist doesn't like his work of art it often gets bad for everyone.

How do you know that? Have you done some polling or something to back this up?

Dude...even the game bashes Tali fans. A Quarian/Turian conversation in Eternity on Ilium is totally a spoof on Tali fan threads.
