Feel free to use this as a signature banner.
(Text looks a bit awkward; might go back and tweak it. May include Legion, Wrex, and Mordin as well.)

You should create a new one when more returning me2 squaddies return as squadmates. Because you can't really add the VS and Liara into it.

Kaidan and Ashley could be dead alive, romanced, or not romanced.
VARIABLES!!!1!111!!
EDIT: And don't worry, I'll make it longer when we get more info.

True but the Ashley/Kaidan situation is diffrent in that one always survives and the other always dies. I don't think we should count romances into it (granted it''s still a variables).
Still, I like that signature.

Yes, but every single ME2 squadmate apart from Morinth/Samara had a survival rate higher than either VS. You are more likely to have Miranda in your party at the end of ME2 than Kaidan at the end of ME1, statistically speaking.Lizardviking wrote...

And I'm going to count the 'mancing as a variable, since it's something Elite was factoring in before. Blatant hypocrisy on his part.
Thanks. Like I said, I'll update it as more info comes in.Still, I like that signature.

I get your point, but I still don't think you can truly compare them. Miranda might be dead, but the Virmire survivor is always alive. Granted there is a large variable regarding this character that has a large effect, mainly whether the VS is a man named Kaidan or a woman called Ashley.
To talk about something else. Seeing confirmation on Garrus's glorious return makes me believe that we will see the 6 ME2 love interest return as squadmates again. Or atleast see 3-6 ME2 squadmates return in total.

We've quoted this stat a bunch of times, Cheez and I, but here it is AGAIN.
Only 15% of the squad dies on the end mission, on average. Assuming the average number of squadmates recruited is 10 (the Legion Sellers and DLC buyers cancel each other out), this means that any given character has about a 1.5% chance of being dead in a given save.
That is a tiny, tiny minority of players who will be affected if a character comes back. Even if six squaddies come back, only 9% of people will be missing one or more people.

Ah, I dig it when you quote stats, don't ever stop.

I saw EliteMidget on earlier yesterday. I wonder why he wasn't bumping his own thread, triumphing teh Variables? Perhaps there has been too much Time Skip for him to remember this thread exists. Maybe he doesn't want to be guilty of trying to retcon his opinion on this matter? This is after all a stand-alone thread, and his next thread will not carry over any of the squadm- er I mean, ideas from this previous thread.

*Tips hat* I saw it myself where he posted in a thread that had nothing whatsoever to do with the subject. That was my problem with him (apart from the arrogance and poorly attempted condescension) he seems to be physically incapable of contributing to a thread about ANY subject without posting that. Even now after his whole theory has had an iceberg sized hole in it (Garus) he still maintains that NONE of the other Squaddies will return. He even gave reasons in the past why Garus simply COULDN'T return and yet...Ooo look! Here he is!
If one can return then the ONLY thing stopping others is the writers.

The variables are in the game and thus are facts set in stone. the only way to change them is by retconning them or Bioware forgetting that they existed.

Thank you for making this thread. It will be convenient to necro when the character previews start coming out.
You'll be waiting awhile than.
Bioware might defy Logic and cave into the Fans again though that's doubtful. Whatever the case I shall either be lauded as a man of Foresight or trolled by the well wishers if Bioware manages to do the impossible in such a short Development Cycle with EA breathing down their throats.
Whatever the case I've picked a side and refuse to give it up untill Bioware outright states the opposite of what Logic dictates it.
