Isn't slavery illegal in Kirkwall? She might just have run away. And good thing she did tbh.crow619 wrote...
I check the area up the stairs and I still can not find her. I check and all I got is hawk's room and mom hawks room. Maybe I had to pay her, because I had her as a slave. Maybe she ran away. Maybe my game is bug. : )

Obviously not that heavily enforced if so. After all, slavers used to own your home.

She's at the right to the door when you first enter near the fireplace. She's not hard to see.

Yep I fund it rather dumb that Leandra calls her a slave. I mean if slavery was actually legal then there would be something like a slave market. Or you could at least see any slaves. All you see is slavers, and you kill them.
Its not legal in kirkwall. The reason you see a lot of slavers but no slaves is because the slavers are enslaving people in and around Kirkwall and sending them back to Tivinter where slavery is legal. As for Orana, if you don't pay her she is a slave you just break the laws of kirkwall by doing so.

i paid her, she wasnt a slave but just my maid.
Same, but the game still read her as a slave. Leandra would say "An elven slave? I hope you know what you're doing."

I heard she teaches Merrill to play music. Is that true?
Yeah, if you recruited Orana and have Merrill move in with Hawke (romance). Then in Act 3, you can have Hawke comment on an instrument in her bedroom (in the Hawke estate) and she will say something along the lines of: Orana is a patient music teacher but Merrill should stick with magic.

There's also a comment for Anders if he moves in: Anders may have talents, but playing the lute isn't one of them.
There's a few other banter lines for Leandra regarding Orana:
"I sent the elven girl to the chantry. They can help her, I'm sure of it."
"*Sighs* An elven slave? Maker's breath, I hope you know what you're doing."
"I don't know why you sent Orana to me."

A person with a slave mentality NEEDS structure and authority like the rest of us need oxygen. Thus by givng her that structure but paying her, at least Hawke gives Orana the opportunity to wean herself off having a slave mentaliy but it's long and slow process.

I'm glad there ain't an Act 4. That girl was slowly relocating herself thru my bedroom.
You are suprised? "Bedwarmer" was almost certainly one of her 'duties' as a household (inside) slave with her apperance. Just saying.

The thing is hiring her as your maid is probably the kindest and best thing you can do for her. The poor girl has a complete slave mentality (and you see that in some slaves raised in slave-holding societies such as Tevinter). If you give her money and say "you're free", she would be robbed and then exploited by someone before the day is out. Even Fenris says as much.

I had the same thought. To bad Mother thinks that I'm holding her as a slave.

With her looks, I prefer Sandal as "Bedwarmer".
