'Only' 128,000? I don't get your point. ?Ixalmaris wrote...
Oh look, the DA2 XBox 360 version only sold 128,897 copies (place 6) and the other versions are not even in the top 10.

Grim Fandango didn't sell very well either, which is how I know that it was an awful game. It shames me to this day that I enjoyed it so very much when its lack of sales is a constant reminder that I am wrong to do so.
Its why lucas stopped making adventure games, but bioware movie enthuisiast would see them return!

And, conversely, if this game sells really well, does that automatically mean that it is a great game?
"Don't judge those photos, it's from an early build."
"Don't judge the demo, it's an early build."
"Don't believe the negative reviews, it's all 4chan."
"Don't believe the sales figures, it's still a great game."
Though, I do agree with you to a point. Sales figures, however high or low, should not be representative of quality. Lots of garbage sells by the boat load.

So the total sales are around one million now after 2 1/2 weeks? I admit I know nothing about sales figures in the gaming industry but this doesn't strike me as a bad figure. Feel free to correct me though.

See here's the problem with them: they won't tell anyone where/how they get their data. Apparently, we're all just supposed to take the accuracy of their figures on faith. Sorry, but no thanks.

Well i mean CoD: Black ops only sold 7 million units on the first day between the US and UK. That being the crowd your boy laidlaw wants. I can see why.

For PS 3 alone, DA 2 total sales already reached 521,405 copies worldwide.

People have been fed too much pie. They expect more and more with each new game. And sometimes, when they try something new, or fall behind, that can cause outrage, hate, and lynch mobs. But if you offered a game like this to someone in the Xbox original days, they would have been left drooling into their controllers.
The game has issues, yes. Bugs that can kill a gaming session. Less to do than DAO, and recycled zones. But I think in this modern age people need to lower their expectations. Even the game companies are feeling the squeeze of the Global financial crisis, and are having to make cutbacks to continue to bring you the games you love.
Of course this does not excuse EA, who keep forcing their game development companies to meet unreasonable timelines, causing half baked or half finished games.
But at the end of the day... lower your expectations, for your own sake. The gaming industry is groaning under the corporate cog, and financial difficulty. Future games for the next few years will sadly be most likely full of bugs, and shorter. Far shorter. And yes, the charts shall shrink too, for they are seeing what happens when gamers must tighten their belts.

It's hard to compare the sales figures directly to Origins since VGchartz doesn't have the Origins PC sales, but I have heard that Origins sold at least a million copies on PC alone (over an extended period of time). Based on the information we have though it looks like it's selling not as well as Origins on any platform, but perhaps more so on PC, and not quite as not as well on X360.
It's hard to see the game outselling Origins. Maybe add more exploding corpses next time.

DA2 will be lucky to sell 3/4 of DA:O's. So much for expanding the audience.

No, if you want to take my statements and then go with the conversely, I should then be shamed that I do not like a game that does sell millions. And I am, I am so ashamed how much I do not like World of Warcraft.Captain Sassy Pants wrote...

Mike Laidlaw definitely isn't my favorite Bioware employee. And I've never played CoD, so I know nothing about that. I played DA2 because I loved DAO. Now I love both.

And even DA2 still has far more gameplay than Super Mario ever had.
If you call running through the exact same empty street twelve times gameplay, then sure.

Yea but you know Laidlaw is just gonna blame Origins for already turning off the very people hes trying to convert.
