so i romanced Merill but when Varric was finishing off the story isabella was the one who never left my side? is it a bug or what

Yes, it is a bug that makes Varrik think, whoever you romanced first (be it gone, dead, or ex) is the real love of your life.

I sincerely hope this doesn't cause any import problems for the next game/expansion. Not that it's my problem as I've yet to do something like that, but still.
