How would you build a Rogue based on the folk legend Robin Hood?
I would think he would use a bag of tricks, so Archery, Sabotage, and Scoundrel skills could be flavorful. As far as specs go, Shadow is the stand out. But Robin was know as a Skilled Swordsman, so Duelist sounds good too. Assassin doesn't fit him much per-se (he wasn't know for being an assassin), but his precision might be interpreted as use of skills like Pinpoint Strikes.

I'm a dwarf, sue me.

On topic:
If we had Swap weapon sets ability like we're suppose to.  I would say archery + scoundrel + more of a sword set up, which we cant do either.  He's really more of a warrior with a bow.  The whole customization ability is really scarce this time around, which makes me a sad panda.  One of the things I miss the most from Origins.

I would say he is a Rogue more than a Warrior, due to how he operates from the shadows and is more of a swift fighter than a muscle one.

I think his point was Rogues can't use swords, and warriors can't use bows, so you're kinda stuck

True, but given the circumstances, Duelist isn't far off. Robin doesn't strike me as a Shield or Bastardsword/Broadsword user. The swift swordsman fits Duelist more than anything in the Warrior's skill list in DA.

This, if you're talking about Costner's Robin Hood that is.  He also could use a crossbow very quickly after picking it up, which required strength.

I'm not trying to be a downer, just hating the limitations on choices this time around.

Ill see what i can come up with given the current limitations.

Here is my interpretation of what a Robin Hood style character would be like.

I went Duelist/Shadow. It's sort of a strange build because it involves taunting/agro abilities, but also threat reduction/stealth abilities. However, I thought they were both key attributes for Robin Hood.

As far as items go, you have to make sure to get all the Black Fox items. He is the Dragon Age's equivalent of Robin Hood, so it's perfect. I know there is a ring, but I'm not sure if there are any more.

How is this?:

It has various ways to get obscured, an attack against Brittle and Staggered, two teleports, plus other bag of tricks.

Longbowmen were actually usually stronger than knights and used two handed pole weapons to hammer their enemies to death, but those aren't in the game and rogues can only use daggers, which is a bit annoying.

I usually imagine Robin Hood with either a bastar*d or arming sword, and ofcourse a longbow.

Dragon Age 2
Archery chain - All skills
Precision - All skills
Duelist - The most suitable skill for melee combat, though it will never look right with two daggers.
Shadow - He was supposed to be good at ambushing, so stealth would be important.

Thats the sort of setup I would go for, and would try and avoid melee combat myself.

What would be amazing would be if we had a Rapier/Dagger combo for duel weapons, than you would have a brilliant use for Robin Hood.

Really? I read him more as a Zorro analogy, though I suppose the two myths are similar enough it could swing either way.

On topic: I see Robin Hood more as an archer than swordsman. Maybe it's just because I saw Disney's animated version so many times as a kid and that's what they stressed. If it were me, I'd make an Archer Hawke with Subterfuge and Duelist abilities.

Yeah Robin Hood = Archer for me. No question.

Zorro and the Three Musketeers are the swashbuckling fencers. Only one became a delicious candy bar however.

classical Robin Hood was known as much as for his swordsmanship as archery. :)

Maybe but...c'mon...Robin Hood in the 1900's is pretty established as the "dashing rogue archer with the heart of gold who steals from the rich to give to the poor."

I'm not saying you have to marry yourself to the Archery skill tree in the game but I'd definitely build a "DA II Robin Hood homage" character using a bow.

I don't disagree, just pointing out he was know for both skills. His Archery skills have just been spread much more. So much in fact that in professional archery, splitting an arrow with another arrow is called a Robin Hood.

Yeah I know about that, but are there any more? I know there is a codex in Fenris' mansion, but that's about it.

Origins had a few black fox items including a bow.

The 2 builds i see above represent end game builds...it would be more useful to post builds that work from lvl 1 up or post 2 builds one though lvl 10, then the respec for higher level one.

just a though.

I just picked abilities that give off a Robin Hood vibe. Whether this works at any point in the game is a different story.
