Sebastian will be back in future content anyway, freeing his newly de-vow-ified self up for a future (real) romance. (I hope)

From a non-metagaming perspective, I couldn't bring myself to stab Anders in the back when he already looked that dejected. I wanted to see him wallow in it and squirm.

I realize that a lot of it was the actual point of what he was doing, but Sebastian is being the immature prince he was back when he arrived at the Chantry by demanding Anders's death for the action. He's not thinking clearly - kill Anders and you have a martyr on your hands"

No, he isn't. Let's not blame the victim here.

"I was surprised, given that his whole character arc was supposed to be about Revenge Not Helping After People You Love Are Murdered, that his immediate reaction was to threaten revenge. Way to grow through adversity there, Sebastian. "

Um.. he just saw people he cared about get blown up.. he reacted like any sane eprson would = punish the person who committed such a heinous act.

Love the way people try to justify Anerd's cold blooded mass murder. LMAO

P.S. Talking about 'martyrs', Anders made the Chantry mother one. Nice goin', dude, nice goin'.

Neither of us said that what Anders did was right. We weren't defending Anders' choice. Likewise, yes, the instinctive response for anyone who does see such a sight would be to kill the person responsible. I can honestly say that if my mother was in an explosion like that, I would be calling for the head of the guilty parties.

But stop for a moment. Would the Grand Cleric want him killing someone in her name? I honestly can see her observing this from whatever afterlife you choose and shaking her head, saying 'Sebastian, you have learned nothing.' Sebastian's character arc takes him through the death of his family, and learning that killing the ones responsible brought him no peace. He's seen Hawke go through it as well in regards to Leandra. And yet, when it happens again, Sebastian goes straight for revenge. And you can't say a thing to get him to think rationally.

I'm not blaming him, I understand it. But with no option to talk him out of it, convince him that he is acting rashly and without thought, I find him unreasonable. And a ruler who can not put aside his personal feelings, clear his head, and make a rational decision is a poor one. Given that he wants to retake Starkhaven to march against Kirkwall solely to bring Anders to justice (and again, I say that Anders' death would make him a martyr, AND at that moment, he WANTS death. For him, it'd be a mercy killing, and I doubt Sebastian wants to show him any kind of mercy), his actions and decsions say he'd make a lousy ruler.

First game I was a healer, second game I'd told him to go away in act 2. So, no.

anyone felt like this when Anders blows the chantry?

Nope. Healing is not an issue. I had enough healing potions to last through that long final battle with plenty to spare. And if you play it right, Bethany is with you and she can be a healer as well. The Emporium has a large stock of potions and I simply bought them all before the final sequence. You get enough warning in the game that this is the final sequence.

As for Anders, I sent him away the first time and killed him in subsequent plays. He has clearly gone over the edge and with Justice inside him, there is no coming back. If there is one thing worst than a mad scientist, it is a mad mage.

er i was a dps mage? so bethany died:o

And you didn't bother getting Heal and it's upgrade so you would have minimal healing at least?

My rogue let him live as she was in need of a healer, however my warrior did stab him in the back with what appeared to be a knife suitable only for peeling apples.

Yeah, that's just lazy. Plus Anders don't have THAT much healing potential. There is also bombs that can ressurect your teammates and some potions that lift you up right away after the character has been downed. You don't need that pansy Anders! Just HULK SMASH! everything.

Anders literally killed widows and orphans when he blew up that chantry. The man straight up shanked Oliver Twist (or if you prefer the dinsney version curb stomped an adorable kitten).

While I didn't really bear any Sebastian any ill will, I wasn't exactly sad to see him go. I eventually just benched him because it seemed like he was dying to every light puff of breeze that went by without having any significant impact on the enemy. Because of that, I'm not too concerned with the army he threatened me with.

At least he got off his ass and finally made a decision, though.

Don't see why you would need a healer on hard, if you have a proper tank it should be easy. I stabbed Anders and rolled with Sebastian.

I was all about staying loyal to my companions and not judging them for there actions. They helped me do some pretty weird stuff and stuck by me even if they disagreed. I may not agree with what Anders did (and I chewed him out for it) but I wasn't going to pretend I was above him when I had basically been running around meddling in smaller ways for the last 7 years. He stuck by me, and I stuck by him - I would send him away to keep Sebastian, but I couldn't kill him.

There's a bit of a difference between "punish the person who did this heinous thing" and "I hereby demand unilaterally that you kill him in vengeance right now, or I'll march my armies into this city, so help me."

Anders did a terrible and unjustifiable thing.  That doesn't justify anyone else doing another terrible, unjustifiable thing.  There was no way he was walking away from what he'd done, but it wasn't Sebasian's - or anyone's - place to be judge, jury and executioner.  Not to mention that killing Anders makes one more martyr for people to do awful things in the name of.

I say this as someone who wasn't viscount at the time.  Perhaps if I'd chosen to be, high justice would have been an option.

Now true the Emporium may have a large stock of potions but not Healing potions as I am playing through on hard and have only found 10 healing potions in each chapter at the emporium. Been back there several times in each chapter and there is no more. Don't know how you figure that there is a large stock of healing potions in the emporium.

Even the health regeneration of items don't work properly like they should and I've got several items that are suppose to regenerate health, mana, and stamina.Even have the Revar with the Devor and both upgrades which are suppose to regen 8 health each and they don't do that either.

I still killed him, but I needed a Healer. I just wish Bethany had a healing specialty (or any specialty) or access to Spirit Healer.

Nope. I do believe what I felt was: "Anders, you stupid fu-"

Then I waved bye-bye to poor Sebastian as he stormed off.

...I think Sebastian should send some Flint Company mercenaries after Hawke. Delicious :)

You know what would have made a compelling argument for Sebastian?

"What if your templar brother had been in the chantry? Would you still be waffling then?"

My first play through I romanced Anders, didn't have Seb, and wanted Anders to atone. Dying was too easy. My second play through I didn't romance anyone, had Seb (waited for his long cries to be done) and shanked Anders in the yard after Seb's second threat. Though at that point I agreed with Elthina's opinion of him. I didn't necessarily see Seb's point when it came to strictly Elthina. I think she wanted to be and was proud of being a martyr. I know she said Andraste didn't volunteer for the flame, but after Nightingale's warning, Elthina pretty much did. In that case, Anders helped her. In that vein, if you kill Anders, you help him become the martyr that he wants to be.
