It tells you to go to the Waking Coast and rescue a nobleman's daughter, but I've scoured ALL of the Waking Coast map and caves (as far as I know), as well as all of Kirkwall (night and day), looking for an NPC or starting point for this quest.
Its not even mentioned in the Official Guide. Is this another bugged quest? Anyone else know?

Ah, ok. Hehe...I find it funny that the game's bugs prevented the Guide writers from even noticing this quest. Of course, they wouldn't have been able to address it in the Guide anyway, since its bugged (so much so apparently it can't be played).
Thats probably why it wasn't even mentioned in the Guide.

Guide glosses right over the issue, of course I waited till into my 3rd playthrough to pick it up since i can't see to unlock a couple of achievements.

It was a letter quest, it shows in your Journal, but nowhere else. To the layman, it may have seemed like one of the offhand 'spam' letters, I thought it was until I noticed it in the Journal.Freestorm Skinn wrote...
I don't even remember getting this quest at all, considering I made it a point to finish every sidequest.

I found the spot where the bandits are supposed to be(I think). I found a "Bandit Leader" just standing there, but he can't be interacted with, and he doesn't even show up with the tab (for PC).
Likewise. I'm sitting here trying to get him to interact in any way. No dice. Quite let down by the wounded coast as a whole in act three. It's pretty much empty so far.

Hmmmm...wonder if this will be addressed in an upcoming patch. Also wonder just how many patches this game will need to run correctly.
Well, there's at least one new thread about it every day so hopefully they will. Plus it's bugged across all three platforms so that's even more incentive to fix it.

Hey, at least EA hit their release date. We should all rejoice.

Easy. When their corporate overlords enforce an arbitrary release date. The Great Avatar wrote...
how can any game dev let alone bioware release game so bugged?

Though, I admit, I gave up after only one iteration through the Wounded Coast map and was too lazy to keep looking and I kind of felt like a horrid person for this given the circumstances of the quest.

Has anyone else happened upon this quest? I got it in Act 3, but couldn't find any NPCs, map locations, or any info concerning this mission.

I suspect this quest was dropped due to time constraints but not all the code got deleted. That is why it is not in the guide but you read a letter giving the quest. Bioware has historically put lot of side quests into their games with many of them never making the final cut to get the game released on time. It's one reason why there are many named NPCs who seem to do nothing. They were supposed to be part of a quest that never made it into the final game.

You've obviously forgotten about Origins. I'd post the changelog from the patches here, but it wouldn't tell you about, say Shaperate's Blessing, Ancient Elven Boots and whatnot. :innocent:

Same situation, same Problem. Besides the Bandit leader I found a Mage lurking around at Hightown estates doing the same thing.
The patch works somewhat better with patch 1.02. I believe I've heard it works if you a) patch the game and
But I don't know. Here's my experience.
Before patch
Bandit leader you can't interact with.
After patch
Get attacked by waves of bandits. Then woman walks out and says "Oh save me from the bandits." Click on her again "Oh, you did save me from the bandits! I'm going home now." And I still don't get the quest completed. Maybe on next playthrough it'll work.

she mentioned seeing Feynriel in her dreams. It seemed like it might be a final quest for him, at least with the choices I made for him (sending him to the Dalish, saving him in the fade, going to tevinter). I don't know how it plays out in other scenarios.
