Just FYI on the lore being "infallible" the Dev's have stated that the lore is based on peoples perspectives of things. So it's not 100% true.

Yes its convenient for when the writers want to change something. I don't mind though.

Well there's a control rod down there as well, meaning who ever controled the golems may have died down there, so the golems could have ended up where they were the same way Shale did before Wilhelm found it.

As for the idea of the Lore being infallible, do we know why there are elven relics underground in human ruins in the Dalish DAO origin? Or during nature of the Beast? There are holes in the lore, and they're not all accidents, whether this is or not we'll just have to wait and see (unless one of the writers comes in and comments).

Well, not having received an explanation for something is different that having something contradict the lore we have been given.  What you describe is the former - we haven't been told just why those relics are there, although we have hints  What's going on with the golems seems to contradict the lore, which is that Carradin created the golems to defeat/defend against darkspawn.

Yes, the golems could have been brought there by whoever drew up that map.  But then why are they standing lined up in a corner, instead of in the middle of hallways/rooms, the way Shale was in the middle of Honleath, stopped in the act of moving?

Yes, they said this.  However, they said this in response to some apparent discrepancies between the lore and events in DAA and/or DAO.  Might be true, might be evidence of what I described earlier - mind change, forgetfulness, or writing themselves into a corner.

I do mind.  Not enough to go all rage or anything, but it detracts from the quality, IMO.

Eh when writing a series of RPGs things can take a turn for the different. Sometimes things that have been established have to be changed.

Warp in the West anyone?

Obviously, nothing less than a writer waltzing into this thread and explaining everything will clear up this confusion completely.

One other possible explanation--the hunger demon itself collected these things into the thaig over the long millennia. It seemed awfully possessive of the treasure trove where Valdasine is found.

Have the devs explained the presence of golems in a thaig that is supposed to predate Caridin?

If Caradin could figure out how to make golems, someone else could too?

Plus, the golems you meet down there are kind of whack.

Say what? They're one of the few models in the game who haven't been manhandled by the art department's quest to ruin the styling of DA forever.

Well if there was a control rod and a bunch of golems then it seems likely they were brought there. Somebody else could have found the thaig at some point before Caridin stopped making golems. But once their venture got started, they were overwhelmed by darkspawn.
