I was about to buy Final Thought from the BE but it didn't benefit any of my mage's electric abilities. The only reason I see buying it would be the willpower bonus.

willpower isn't really required unless you want to use late game equipment (i think the highest you need is 28 for champion armor, which sucks anyway)
I always stocked up on multiple staves of different damage type. Those were the best accessories. Of course this strategy only really applied to NM where you fight an eneemy with 1-2 resistances.
