Hello,
I have lost character voice overs in DA2, and the 1.01 patch have not fixed this problem for me. I have tried changing the language to something else than back to English. This triggered a download in Steam, but the problem remains. I have tried disabling then re-enabling dialog audio. Nothing I do seems to work, and this problem makes the game unplayable. Please help!

I had the same problem. I was able to get the dialogue audio to work properly again by going into settings and checking the box for "Force Surround Sound" which is apparently supposed to be for headsets and such, but it worked for me. I haven't had a problem with any audio since I did that.
BTW, I run on a 5.1 digital surround sound system, and this still fixed the problem.

Yes, the problem is that all dialogue goes through the center speaker. If you have a stereo setup or your surround system isn't working properly in the game, you best force stereo surround. Some sound cards will fix this automatically but in some cases you have to force stereo yourself.

Ah yes, that worked...though it feels kind of like the dialog doesn't sound as good as it was before this happened.

I agree. the depth of tone and inflection is a little blah after the fix, however it's preferable to not hearing the dialogue at all, lol.

Okay, I doubt this will apply to everyone, but i managed to fix this for my own case. I have the Creative SB XFi and a 5.1 surround sound system. With a friend, we figured out that for some reason my card/sound system were dynamically trying to assign ports and speakers. So for some reason, my center and rear speakers got disabled.
So people should go right click on the speaker icon, pick playback devices, select their sound card, and then click 'configure'. Then test to make sure you center speaker works. Mine wasn't working.
The fix was to unplug EVERYTHING. All speakers, the subwoofer, the connections to the sound card, etc. ALL CONNECTIONS. Then I set windows to a 2.1 system and rebooted. Then one by one, I plugged in the front speakers, then one by one, rear, and center/sub. This fixed everything for me and I don't need to use the 'force stereo' option anymore.
