I recently learned that Arrival is a solo game.

No squadmates, no backup, does this include no hope?

For context, my Soldier has no attack powers that don't involve a gun.
All the skill points went into Adrenaline Rush, 2 Ammo Powers, Shocktrooper and Heavy Geth Shielding.
I don't even have Concussive Shot!

In the main game, if I ran out of ammo, I'd just have the Squadmembers hammer away at the enemies with whatever powers they could use.
But if I'm solo, I won't be able to do that!

So, if/when I run out of ammo, what do I do?
Hit them with the blunt end of my Collector Assault Rifle?

Work on your aim, son. Posted Image

Work the distance angle. Long range: snipe. Close range: shotty. Middle ground: AR. Back-up: pistol.
All else fails: melee. Overwhelmed AND all else fails: heavy weapons (might I suggest the arc projector?).

Well, I got it done.

Although I had to pass on getting that 5 waves of enemies achievement.

My major friend in this DLC was the Geth Plasma shotgun, it could take out enemies in one hit, shielded or not, it didn't seem to matter.

Unfortunately, at 2 thermal clips per shot, it ran out fast.

And just to taunt me, there was a pile of thermal clips thanks to a lot of dead enemies, but if I wanted to go and get them, I had to walk out straight into a hail of enemy fire.

Which happens a lot to me......

And I didn't get to use Adren Rush, because as predicted, using Geth Heavy Shielding all the time crippled the cooldowns.

It was a choice of slow time or live, I picked live.

I used the shotgun more in this DLC than in any three or four other missions in the game put together.

And if you don't love the Revenant LMG, play this DLC a couple of times. I usually use just fire short burst. With this one, I used a firehose more than a firetruck at a burning turpentine warehouse.

I play Insanity level. Getting that wave attack achievement on Insanity will be a challenge.

Also, that's about the easiest stealth mission I've played in any game.

I finished it without dying with an Adept on hardcore. Yes, every class can do it.

Tilarta, I think using Adren is generally the better choice, because it's a guaranteed kill (actually 2 kills guaranteed on non-insanity, and you can get 2 kills in an AR with the Mattock on insanity). This reduces incoming fire and helps you live a lot better than some shielding.

I actually managed to plow through it pretty easy on Insanity.
Vanguard, with the Viper sniper rifle. I never even had to change guns.

It is possible but fighting off 5 fives of enemies is just a pain in the ass on Insanity.

Needed like 7 times to defeat them while from 3rd try I find out strategy( I HATE PYRO'S and somehow Cain killed me even though I was very far).

I ran solo as a soldier in Arrival. Its entirely doable; but its really dull because you don't have any squadmates to control so it turns into a shooter.

I did it on mine.  Veteran with no "real" deaths.  It just depends on your play style.  If you are one of the rush the enemy kind of people you are going to get owned in some places.

I played Infiltrator on Harrdcore, thinking the whole time that this would have been easier with more guns.

Just finished it as Soldier on Insanity, and I'm pretty terrible at shooters. Died only once due to the stupid "duck behind cover" key being the same as the "vault over cover directly into enemy fire" key.

I took Area Reave as my bonus power, since it can take out all three defense types if I ran out of ammo. But I never did, and ended up using it only for crowd control. The key is to be patient and don't wildly fire at everything you see. Use adrenaline rush to aim; taking the Mattock helps because it's high damage and really accurate.

The 90-minute "time limit" in this mission is really generous.

I just finished it as a soldier on Hardcore without any issues at all. As others have mentioned, use your various guns. Don't stick to one. I found ammo clips rather generous in this DLC. While there were occasions when I ran out of ammo for one of my guns (usually my Mattock), those times were because I got lazy and didn't switch weapon types.

You can solo this dlc, on Insanity, with any class. I did it using adept and vanguard.

Just finished arrival as a soldier, not problem at all.
Inferno ammo, slow-mo and geth shield will get you through :)
Don´t underestimate the power that carrying a sniper rifle a shotgun and an assault rifle brings.

As a Soldier you may not need it but Arc Projector makes the DLC vastly easier than not having it!!

I solo'd on a soldier, my first run.

Weapons
---------------

Mattock Assault Rifle
Phalanx Heavy Pistol
Incisor Sniper
Geth Shotgun
Locust SMG
Gernade Launcher

All I used was Mattock & Gernade Launcher. Want to know one best places to fort yourself up at? Soon as it starts, the Artifact is front of you, go to the left & up the small stairs, there a L shaped Desk/Console area.

Hang out there, you can destroy everything, if something gets a little to close(Flame Thrower guys), use your shotgun or something. Because lets be honest you should shoot them first, everyone else hangs out at medium range, it's a pot shot festival.

Only time I got tad scared when Heavy Mech got close, I was unloading my Mattock into it's face, that's about it, got the 5 wave completion, I didn't even know there was a completion for it.

Yes it is possible to do as Soilder, even with crappy gear. My first play i used Avenger AR, Carnifex Pistol, Widow SR, Eviscerator Shotty and Missile Launcher HW. Also had Flashbang as bonus ability. I won't lie though, it was rather challenging, especially with no defensive ability...and even on normal Difficulty at that. But was still fun.

If you don't mind passing up on the Object Rho achievement, it is possible to go through the DLC as a soldier on any difficulty level. I finished it yesterday on Normal (though I had started out on Insanity for a little bit). I plan to go back and try for the "Rho" achievement once I get a better video card (I had to play through the DLC using a spare video card that's a few years old).
