Yeah they're blitzing everyone they go up against. Right now Obsidian is against them and losing 37% to 63%. Going to be Blizzard vs BioWare and Valve vs Mojang in the semi-finals.

Bioware. Not a hard decision. When thinking about all their games. (not just DA2) cause people will vote against them right now just cause they were disappointed recently. But I find Bethesda games fun, but less immersive and Bioware games to be better story driven and the player character is way more focused on.

On the basis of their previous games: Bioware.

On the basis of DA2: Bethesda

Meh, the only good thing in escapist is Zero Punctuation. (bioware btw), but I almost voted for Bethesda after DA2...

Zero Punctuation AND Extra Credits. Trust me, despite being an eenyweeny bit on the pretentious side they still know what they are talking about. Just my opinion though.

This is a tough call. 4 weeks ago I would have said Bioware, but since DA2 left a slightly bitter-sweet taste in my mouth that I still cant get it off... Dont get me wrong, Its a good game and I loved its story that was finally about something else than saving the world, but it was so darn tedious to play thanks to ridiculous and seemingly never-ending enemy reinforcements and copy-paste dungeons... I just cannot play it through a second time, not yet, I dont want to go through that predictable crap again.

Bethesda however, I love Morrowind and Oblivion and Fallout 3 (last two modded of course) to no end, and I still have a slight Skyrim hype going on.

God damnit, I have to call it a draw for now and think about this.

*edit* In the end, I chose Bioware.

Tricky one, I love both franchises; if I'm perfectly honest, I prefer Bethesda's games because I like their openness and immersion, but even with the recent irritations with DA2 and activation codes, Bethesda still have a much worse attitude towards their customers and non-existent QA. And even if not for that, I'd be tempted to vote against them because the elitist Morrowind fans are so utterly annoying. So Bioware it is, then.

Won't vote, as I didn't for the last two years around BioWare's various forums. However, thanks to members that posted Morrowind pics, be it modded or not, I remember why I like Bethesda so much. That said, sorry BioWare, you lose here.

Can't vote, because I don't (will not) have Facebook.
But if I did, I would have voted for Bethesda, since Bioware turned crap after ME1 and DA:O.

Bioware.

Though I like Bethesda's games I played so far, it was an easy choice.

Bethesda. Bioware games are great, but I love how open and free Morrowind and Oblivion felt. I liked Fallout 3 but it was buggier and although the graphics were better, it just wasn't as nice to look at as Oblivion was.

I'm not actually gonna try and vote since my Ad/Pop-up blocker is playing havoc on The Escapist. But if I were to vote, I would choose Bethesda for their more "mod-friendly" games. I've played Oblivion and Fallout 3 with some cool mods that are easy to install.

Installing texture mods for ME2: Install TexMod -> Rename original MassEffect2.exe to something else -> Rename TexMod.exe to MassEffect2.exe -> Run renamed TexMod.exe -> Select the MassEffect2.exe as the application to apply texture mods -> Select said mods to load -> Play the game with annoying framerate drops

Installing mods for Bethesda games: Install and run Mod Manager -> Select mods to load in game (once they're loaded into the main directory) -> Play the game with little to no effect on the gameplay.

yay, they're through to the semis.

And I'm surprised they're actually winning against Blizzard.

Same. What I've read about Skyrim so far is really impressive.

This year both companies have games out or coming out. I think of it as Dragon Age 2 vs. Skyrim. On the hype meter, Skyrim wins by a mile. I haven't even bought DA2.

i like 'em both really, i enjoyed Oblivion more than Dragon Age Origins/2 but i enjoyed Mass Effect 1/2 more than Fallout 3/New Vegas

really if you're into western rpg's you'd have to be dense not to at least play games from both of them

I love BioWare and Bethesda, but I have to go with Bethesda ftw because their games are much more open, and consiqently, feel more real to me. I like me freedom. The railroad effect really gets to you after a while.

The WoW crowd isn't too big there. Blizzard did alright in last year's March Madness but I'm not sure they're liked as much as BioWare/Valve, even though they released SC2 and Cata recently. Though I don't know what to expect with Mojang storming in.

KenKenpachi wrote...

PS didn't see it, but was Nintendo on the list? I mean they are a developer.

They got knocked out in the first round by Mojang.

WoW-crowd schmow-crowd. Those ****ers just don't release games that weren't widely loved, critically acclaimed and perhaps most importantly, time enduring mega hits. With exception of MMos, I by default strongly dislike every single game genre Bliz is involved in. Yet, I could never claim they weren't by far the greatest Studio alive.

You're asking this on a Bioware forum. Obviously the results will be a little biased and skewed. Just a little.

I honestly love both companies equally the same and I can't pick one. There's no clear winner for me.

Why bumping an old thread?

I wonder if it will turn out differently if they do the bracketology now.

Obviously, I will vote for Bethesda.
