Many threads ask the question, is it right for mages to rebel agaist the chantry ?
I ask, what would you do if you were a mage in the circle ?
Would you turn to blood magic to appose the templars/chantry ?
Would you become an abomination to save other mages ?
Would you hide in a closet and weather a storm ?
What would you do as a circle mage ?

I would in all likelihood turn to blood magic, yes.
I would not turn into an abomination under any circumstances. I would sooner die. You've see what abominations look like. I'm certainly not the most good-looking woman in the world or anything, but I don't care if the demon made me Queen of the Universe, I am NOT going to look like that for all eternity.

Depends on how **** goes down in the circle I'm in - if there's some official "tame mages registry" where the templars take those back into custody who would rather not die in a futile civil war - that's where I'll be. Rebelling against the chantry, unless something even more drastic happens, is pretty much suicide, and I like living.
If such a thing isn't possible, then yes - I'd probably end up cutting myself. Which pretty much means, sooner or later I'll end up as an abomination, given people hardly ever volunteer for that.

Be all Emo and cut myself for Blood Magics.
Then start a gang of Blood mages called the Bloods.
And people who got crippled by there being no Arcane Warrior can be the Crips.
And the Templars are the Po Po.

I wouldn't accept the Circle, I'd probably leave. I wouldn't become an abomination, but I'd likely turn to blood magic to oppose the templars and the Chantry. I'd likely have to use it to kill the templars tracking me and destroy the phylactery. Maybe even pursue a study of blood magic once that matter was settled. Maybe reach out to the Mages Collective and see if there are any like-minded individuals.

I turn to the Chantry seeking sanctuary... oh wait...
I'd never turn to blood magic, or willingly become an abomination, either way I see it as losing yourself. I guess if the odds were against me, running like hell is always an option. Cast a few cold spells to slow my pursuers down, and alternate between defensive arcane spells to protect myself from any ranged Templars. I think I could get away. If that fails, I'd take my own life and die without siding with demons, or giving any Templar the satisfaction of striking down yet another mage.

I would try to bring some semblance of sanity to my Circle - barring that, depending on how they turned, I would die in a blaze of glory trying to destroy every blood mage and rebel I encountered. I likely wouldn't be able to escape the tower to get to some place that had an army prepared to take it. If I "did" I would tell them to not even bother attacking the place - I would tell them to bring catapults and trebuchets and knock the tower down on top of the wizards (if they were all rebels).
I believe in reform - not revolution. Disloyalty to the establishment will achieve nothing. One must work within the boundaries of society to achieve real change. Revolution by such an extreme minority will only bring more hatred upon all mages.

I would work through nonviolent political means to attempt to better the lives of circle mages. Resorting to blood magic only encourages and re-enforces the stereotype that all mages are monsters. The fact that the Templars are annoying in no way eclipses the fact that the Circle towers fill an important educational need for mages.

Fight back I supported anders all the way I cheered when he destroyed the chantry, And Anders said "there can be no compromise! Let me people go!" Mage revolutionary is a worthy title for hawke and anders well If your a Mage....

Immediately buy a cat. Then put a bunch of gel in my hair and form a gang called the "Lyrium Snakes" and go around in leather robes with sunglasses on. And occasionally shout LYRIUM SNAKES RULE at Templars and the old beardy mages for no reason whatsoever.
... But seriously, I would probably quiver in my boots until the Harrowing came. And then once it did, I would drag my feet along with whatever job I was given each day whilst also making non-violent methods at loosening the hold on the Templars for the rest of the circle mages. And if it came down to war, I would fight for my mage brothers. Or just run away to Tevinter so I can live in peace.

Find some small out of the way town and use my spells to help the people there and see how that works out, if it fails I guess I could try Tevinter, or if I am a powerful enough mage just horror/crushing prison anyone foolish enough to come after me. Anders may have been a nut but he did make friends, bringing healing to a small town would be a big deal, and I thought of this long before DA2 did it, I am sure many people did.

@Sharn01 - you mean the town of Andrastian faithful who heard a mage blew up a Chantry in Kirkwall and now the mages are rebelling all over? That town? Good luck - Ander's screwed any chance of you being able to walk in any town in Thedas without a lynching.

To be honest there are already far worse horror stories going around about mages, most if not all completely untrue, most news spreads by word of mouth and much of it is only partly based in truth if any truth at all.

@Sharn01 - I'd try the Chasind tribes if I were you. Good luck out there.
