Ha! Probably.

The original plan was actually to have Fenris shirtless all the time. I would have been okay with that, even if it did kind of make him look like he just came out of Lord of the Flies.

 Bioware
I disapoint that this wasn't included.

So, let´s request a Fenris shirtless DLC.

I have a question for the Fenris lovers.

And I would like to preface this with the fact that he was one of my favorite characters too.

At the climax I decided to side with the mages. Fenris disagreed... rather strongly and I was forced to kill him. I really admired him for his conviction but I was just wondering:

Did any of you guys romance Fenris and then side with the mages? And if so, what was his reaction?

I sided with the mages. I can´t remember his words exactly but he stayed with me, no killing. Friendship romance.

I'll have to do that sometime. Loved his reaction and his solid stance against me on my first play through so eager to see the alternatives.

I remember those scenes where he stood against me for my pro-Mageyness. Roughest fight, and I felt so bad having to put him down. I was all "please let this be the Fade, c'mon".

Not only he did, us Fengirls over at the
Fenris thread enjoyed it too, more than once at that! Really, it's not
about the sexy appeal either, it's the story/backstory that got me
hooked. Really really enjoyed the character development for all
companions in DA2. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

Much obliged. It's nice to see that there's people who enjoyed the game, even if others did not.

Meh... haters gonna hate.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, you really outdid yourself with some of the writing on DA2.  Some of us really do appreciate and enjoy all the work y'all did.

Thirded. The good work, and I daresay at times excellent, has not gone unnoticed.

Dragon Age 2 finally got me to sleep with Zevran. Sure it was to please Isabela, but now I can't get the leather stench off my Hawke.

Thanks for the details, I had wondered about keeping the clothes on - that makes total sense. I've done Anders/F and am partway through Fenris/F right now - planning on running through those romances with male Hawke as well. I really am enjoying both the characters, as well as the change to Anders. I originally wasn't keen on the voice/personality change, but after getting more into the character it fit remarkably well. Nice job also on getting Gideon Emery for Fenris' voice - it matches perfectly.

Yep, the Fenris romance is my favorite. I do wish it could have been more in-depth though, like how the romances were in Origins. Alistair's romance was almost perfect. I say almost because of how it sort of teetered off at the end with the Landsmeet, not much to be said between the two lovers, I guess. But anyway! Fenris. I hope to see a lot more of him in DA3, and I hope that his and Hawke's romance carries over (I assume it will, since Varric says that Fenris never left the Champion's side) but you never know. Look at what happened to Kaidan/Ashley in ME2.

When I finish this current playthru (MaleHawke/Isabella romance) I'm going to try a FemHawke mage romancing Fenris...and I wanna see if I can go the Rivalmance route.

Anyone done the rivalmance with Fenris, and if so, is it as "good" as the Friendmance?

Also, while I have some...minor issues with certain things in DA2 (which will go unmentioned here) I have to say that, so far, I really like the writing. Most of the quests are excellently done, the companions are believeable (even though I think Anders is a bit of an emo ****, but that's because he's well written enough for me to actually dislike him as a person), and the party banter is absolutely magnificent (and at times downright hilarious!).

So, I wanted to throw my five cents (inflation sux) into the mix with a congratulatory note towards the BW writers. Well done indeed!!

All the romances are quite well written, because they are not just about falling in love, but about making a bond, learning the other person and finding a dislike or like for him or her. A big change from DA:O was that the romances were paced, which was a very fortunate move, since I recall being halfway through with DA:O and having a finished romance, meaning it was finished. Nothing happened after it, which left me with .. lots of room for my imagination to fill the mutually spent hours....
With the way romances were linked to acts and quests here, the curve of the romance and the curve of the game matched and didn't leave me feel lacking.

I wish there was an option, just a single line, where those who might be interested in my character would signal it, so it is not always me starting the romance. It can be an illusionary start too, just a line or a single smile in the conversation, that gives enough hook for my character to justify jumping on the other.

Summary:
- pacing of romances are way better, evenly distributed, makes us want to hear more, but not eat the dessert before the main meal
- romance is about learning personalities.

Because of this, even though I am very straight, I am tempted to link my character to Isabela, because her personality is intriguing and romance is a good way to learn more about her.

I loved the rivalry romance option as well. Nothing was better than when he was hating Hawke and loving her at the same time.

hmm, perhaps I should give Fenris a second chance. I've had a playthrough I didn't finish where I was rivalmancing him, but he seemed like such a mindless anti-mage bigot I just really started disliking him. I've been giving the game a second chance and Fenris has struck me the same way, although much to my surprise, without any planning on my part, somehow we're friends (not 100% but high up on the scale). He has a very believable personality, though, given his experiences, so perhaps finishing his romance would change my mind.

There is this option for Fenris, actually. If you have his first conversation in his mansion, and you don't go for the romance lines, he'll do it.

Much obliged. It's nice to see that there's people who enjoyed the game, even if others did not.

Fenris' interactions with others, how he actually seemed to be *interacting* instead of just speaking at someone (or near someone) was part of what hooked me on Fenris (although sometimes I was hooked on his armor, ouch) but there was just something more...alive...for lack of a better word about his facial animation.  A lot of the time facial animation ends at the eyebrows, nose and mouth in terms of what we *perceive* moving in what would be the muscle/soft tissue structure.  Fenris seemed to have a lot of subtle facial animation, a mouth just slighting tugging away from seriousness into a mona-lisa-esque smile, for just a brief second ( for example ).  These are the little things that trigger a "oh, a connection!" while you play and interact with the character.

When you find yourself, despite playing a mage at the time, increasingly liking the character even though your character and they have some serious disagreements at the time, that says a lot about the depth of the character and how well gelled all the pieces work to make them who they are.   And, when you finish the game thinking they are far more attractive than before you "knew" them, that also says a lot.

Fenris was well done, all around.   I am thoroughly enjoying him.  :P

Funnily enough I am very tempted to romance  Fenris even though I'm a straight guy as he is the most interesting character and flirting with him as a guy is ridiculously fun and coy.
His banter with the other party members is the best so far apart from Isabella with Aveline.
But kudos to bioware for making his character compelling enough for me to question my orientation even if it is only in a game as I've always remained a stickler for staying the same gender in video games as I am in real life

This. I would go gay for Fenris Image IPB

Oh, I also don't see why Fenris would be standing next to the fireplace fully dressed in his armor after having sex. He should've at least been shirtless.  :-)

I wanted that, too.

The artists looked at me with their sad eyes. "Do you really want us to create an entirely new torso with all those tattoos just for that one scene?"

"That's a stupid question. Of course I do."

"Sigh. Okay, what do you want to cut, then?"

"Oh, bother."

So that's how that conversation went. I guess Fenris dresses really quickly. Maybe he was thinking he would be stabbed? Not an unrealistic expectation.

Anyhow, glad you enjoyed the romance. :)

Hey! He's like me right after sex! Clothes on and I'm outa there, "See ya lady!"! :o

My first (and so far only) run through DA2 was FemHawke Mage in Rivalmance with Fenris. I really enjoyed the sense of tension you get, that you have this kind of love/hate forbidden attraction to each other. I got the impression throughout that Fenris kind of hates you as a mage but loves you as a person, and that split was interesting to watch. Ultimately its nice to see him get over his mage-hate regarding you, at least, and throw himself into the relationship. It also makes a lot of sense (to me) why he leaves and doesn't talk about it for 3 years, if you follow this path.

I've done both.  Many scenes are the same but in some he starts of angrier and you will be able to call him out more on his attitude if that's what you want to do.  I enjoyed the rivalry when I was playing mage because that made sense to me, but ultimately preferred the friendship path as I thought the progression felt more natural. Either way is valid.

Jesus Christ, I saw this post and thought, "Dragon Age must have a really liberal fan base." Good on yall. :P
Anyway, I didn't romance Fenris because he was all anti-mage. (In fact, I think I killed him...) But maybe when I replay the game I'll try it. He doesn't actually seem like a bad sort.

He is kinda right in that mages are able to do horrible things. The one thing I disagreed with is that *all* mages end up like that. He doesn't think all mages are like that though, so I'm rather fine with his opinion on the matter.

My (male) mage did not romance Fenris and even though he left when I sided with the mages and spared Anders, he later ditches Meredith/the Templars and rejoined my group. I was quite surprised -- and pleased -- by this. It was unexpected.
