Was it always long range with daggers equipped? I recall having to be in melee range earlier in the game. In act 3, I look at a character across the map and stab... and they explode.
It seems odd. Did my game bug out?
Assasinate- suddenly long ranged with daggers?

I had a similar experience on a dual wield rogue my first play through, but couldn't tell you what really caused it. I did at some point start using archery and assassinate on bosses I wanted no part of being near or when arcane horrors popped up way outta range, so that may have triggered it
Also, I was going through that massive slowdown bug when I really started noticing that I was beginning to assassinate across the map with daggers, but that could be a total coincidence.

IN3 I think his name is, posted a solo rougue video where he did a assassinate with a Archer across the map on a Mage.
I don't think it makes any sense why Bioware made it that way.

Sniper assassin. They'll never know what hit 'em.

Using the skill long range with a bow made sense, but being able to do a long range dagger strike seems odd. Good to know its not just my game though.

Assassinate is roughly equivalent to DAO's Arrow of Slaying (luckily, the damage formula is not that whacky this time), so it is a ranged skill, basically. However, with daggers you should be able only to Assassinate at melee range. You have run into a glitch.
