1.) I am not obligated to take responsibility of acting DA 2 character's role because he's not what I intend to be. He's too confined within limitation of dialogue wheel, paraphrase words, voice personality and camera POV. By your quotation I have the right to reject Hawke because characters role isn't mandatory to be forced on players.
or through a process of structured decision-making or character development
2.) Control and acting is 2 different things. I can control Hawke like I control puppet and that doesn't make me the puppet itself. On the other hand, Hawke must be the puppet because he cannot act without the controller that is me. The puppet react to guideline within narrative but he has no emotion. I have. Therefore I have to react to narrative too to be sad, angry etc... But I don't. Because I am not acting. I am completely independent from narrative's influence.
or through a process of structured decision-making or character development
Therefore I can say DA 2 is not RPG because I refuse to act as Hawke. I play with Hawke but not as Hawke.
Your refusal to accept the character system in DA2 does not make it any less of an RPG. I can refuse to drive my car, but it does not cease to be a transportation vehicle.
To be fair whether DA 2 is RPG or not, is subjective. As far as I concern, DA 2 fail to provide enough mechanism to make the character to be role-played as I intend to.
Here we get to the heart of the matter. DA2 doesn't fit your specific RPG preferences. It's still firmly within the genre, however. If it isn't, then we must relabel an extensive collection of games.
Lastly, your quote doesn't dictate DA 2 is a RPG.
I provided a generally accepted definition for RPGs as a whole. DA2 does not contravene this definition in any way. So as far as I'm concerned, it does.

Character interaction between Origins and DA2 is a big step down (as just one aspect between the two games). It has been covered ad nauseam what the big differences are. I just don't want to re-hash them as I am very tired at this time. Most importantly though, if DA2 is satifying to you, then that is all that matters, and I would not begrudge in you in taht it means you are wrong to like it as such. People have different tastes, and I respect that.
I'm grateful that you at least acknowledge that people have different preferences, but you could go further and realise that people can also have entirely different interpretations of changes as well. I've read all the arguments as to why character interaction is "dumbed down" in DA2, and I simply disagree with a number of them.
But then again I'm one of those heretics who sees DAO as somewhat of a relic, largely clumsy and awkward.
