Was trying it out against the mature dragon and it seem to stop attacking alltogether. Is that part of the spell effect or a bug?

At the very center, the enemy's attack speed becomes so low that they stop attacking and moving at all. This works against Mature Dragons and quite a few other large bosses.

It's a pretty great spell.

That would be the bug portion of it. Any status change in the target will free it. This can happen to your melee as well if you are not careful.

I've never actually encountered the bug yet.

Gravitic Ring even stops the Arishok! It's a whopper of an ultimate, easily justifying going down the entire Force tree by itself. Fortunately, all the Force spells are nice.

I was pretty surprised by Force Mage. I was intent on not liking it, and assumed it would be lame, but it ended up my favorite specialization out of all the classes. The abilities don't SOUND impressive when reading them, but when you actually use them, it's... very potent and cool.

Yeah, there seems to be a divide about Force Mage. I've talked with a lot of folks who think it's useless, but Gravitic Ring, Pull of the Abyss, and even Fist of the Maker once upgraded were all some of my most used abilities. Ring is dead useful against bosses. Those two pride demons you fight simultaneously in the Gallows made this spell a must for me. And Pull is super useful for containing mobs. I usually pair it with a Glyph of Paralysis or two and watch as 5+ enemies are frozen in spot. Gotta love Force Mage.

Gravitic ring also had this freezing effect on my tank Aveline after she ran through the center of it. Nother bug that needs fixing.

Grav ring in a doorway felt like the old storm of the century firing into rooms you haven't explored in DA:O. I picked up as much aoe abilities as possible and just spammed it in the doorway with the tank on hold position, and it would clear very difficult encounters for me.

Well dont run her through it. It's part of the bug mentioned earlier, a status effect can change it, you can pull of the abyss, or telekinetic blast her free of it. You picked up those tools in order to get gravitic ring.

The effect of gravitic ring will occur on any difficulty.  ff is damage only, not status effects or any elemental/physical force.  The thresholds of those effects on your group may be reduced but the effect of the abilities are still present.
