I have the latest version of Directx 11 (and the renderer is set to Directx 11 in options), I have the latest drivers for my video card, and I have downloaded/installed the HiResTexture pack. I have a GTX 480 so I'm pretty sure my card should be powerful enough to run on very high.

Thanks for any replies

Tried setting it with the configuration utility, or just editing the config files directly?

The configuration utility allows me to change it, but it automatically reverts to high when I start the actual game. As for config files, I'm not entirely sure what you mean my alligator duck friend.

Have you installed the latest DirectX Redist? http://www.microsoft...91-50ceb6d8fa8d Are you using Windows 7 or Vista? If Vista, make sure this is installed, http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en , there is also a link to the 64-bit one there as well.

It's pointless to try and troubleshoot unless you're going to post your complete system specs, including OS information.

While I was posting the info from my DxDiag for you I think I noticed the problem. It's probably one that I'll have to contact Nvidia about because it makes absolutely zero sense. It's saying that my old GTX 260 is still the video card, which is the one that I replaced when I bought the GTX 480. As far as I know the 260 is not Directx 11 compatible so it would make sense why it's "blocking" it. When I first put the 480 in I checked Dxdiag and it said everything was fine...

*lets out the longest sigh ever*

Thanks for the replies anyway, it's appreciated

Suggestion... try the complete uninstall/reinstall video driver method in my signature, below.

The drivers most likely weren't properly uninstalled when you installed the new ones. When nVidia changed their driver updater to require the old drivers to be installed, it's caused a lot of similar problems.

Look for a program called "Driver Sweeper" and utilize it to uninstall BOTH the 400 series and 200 series drivers. Then, reinstall your new cards drivers. RaenImrahl has the link within his Signature (above post) that gives the play-by-play on how to do it.
