I killed the Architect very, very dead in the save I imported for DA2. The plot summary when I did the import reflected this. However, when I found Nate, he said, "Since the Warden-Commander spared the Architect...." I hope this can be fixed; that seems like a fairly important choice that's flagged incorrectly.

I ran into kinda the same problem except the finding nathaniel quest wouldn't even show up for me to start so I had to use the debug menu to start the quest.

There are known issues with imports. The game actually properly DOES import your save game data and properly stores it in the DA2 save file. The problem is within the game not recognizing certain romance and plot flags from DAO and its DLCs. There is a community project that fixes most of these bugs Click on Projects above and search for DA2 and DA 2. In the list you will see a project that fixes imported data

The project fix may not work. It is presently installed for me, and the vault debug command shows Nathaniel as alive and still a Warden, but Fool's Gold is open to me in Act 2, and conventional wisdom dictates that Fool's Gold precludes Finding Nathaniel.

Not necessarily. Although I was able to accept Fool's Gold (yes, it bugged Nathaniel), my bother was able to do accept and complete both quests in his playthroughs.
We both typically play lawful good/paragon characters as our main, so most of our choices were the same. There are notable differences between our game(s) however -
- He accepted the Dark Ritual
- Morrigan was romanced in his playthrough
- Architect spared in his Awakening game

See, this is what I've been saying - that one does not necessarily preclude the other. Unfortunately, testing this requires full playthroughs, and that takes time.

I see the Fool's Gold quest available, but I'm sure I meet the prerequisites for Finding Nathaniel. So if I install the import mod, will Finding Nathaniel be available in Act 3 or would I have to start a new game?

I did that exact same thing and he did not show up when I got to act 3.
I started a brand new game with the import and I've only just gotten to act 2, Fool's Gold is there but since I've not gotten to act 3 I don't know if I will see Nat or not. Whenever I used the console to view the world state it said he had left the Wardens, which isn't what happned in my game, but after I installed the fix it changed to say he had not left the Wardens. So..I guess I will find out over the weekend if I ever get to run into him.
