Family? Home? Future? Who needs any of those when you can be a Blight-tainted outcast! Image IPB

I brought:

Varric, obviously.
Carver
Anders

I hadn't read any spoilers, so it was just a stroke of luck I chose both of them.

Well, since that party was basically the party I usually ran with anyway, I really thought it ended up working out.

XD Like I said I wasn't thinking like Hawke I was thinking like the Warden Commander and my Warden Commander wanted more wardens. I felt like a total jerk afterwards

Yeah, but it's not without it's upside. For one she gets a ****in new outfit. She never has to worry about templars again except for the occasional extra overzealous one, even then she's got her own friends in heavy plate to help out.:D

Fenris and Anders the first time, with rogue Hawke. Wanted a tank and a healer, and preferred those two to Aveline and Bethany, and I didn't know that Bethany/Carver would always catch the taint.

Then Bethany and Anders, with warrior Hawke. Mostly because I wanted to see Bethany become a Warden, but partly because I wanted Bethany's healing backup.

I've done the Deep Roads about five times because I just keep starting characters instead of completing the game.

My first run, unspoiled with a rogue Hawke, I left Bethany at home because it seemed like the "good" thing to do. Second run, as 2H tanking warrior Hawke, I took Bethany and Anders, so that covered the second of the six eventualities. Since then, I've left Carver at home on my "bad" mage Hawke, but that's only the third eventuality. On my other runs I have never taken Carver or Bethany without Anders, and I haven't taken Carver with Anders yet. Since the Deep Roads is a bad place for melee dps, I'll have to take Carver as 2H tank and he isn't great for that role.

For other companions, I tend to take either Fenris as 2H tank or Aveline. I only have one vaguely anti-mage run, so it's nice to take Fenris on a mission where you can't annoy him too much. I haven't taken Isabella yet (although I will shortly because I've got her tanking on my Spirit Healer Hawke) and I've only taken Merrill once, so I guess that I take Anders a lot.

My first run as warrior i took bethany and aveline, it was very dramatic as i ended up with bethany dead and she was a fundamental part of my party, i was more shocked by her death than by mother´s death. After that playthrought i take anders and my sibling, for making him/her a grey warden.

First playthrough was Anders, Carver, Varric.  I didn't know what was going to happen to Carver.  Actually, my first party didn't have Carver, I picked Aveline.  Mother begged me not to take Carver, but he made such a stink about not going when I left him out, I changed my mind.  I reloaded the game to take him with me.

I was quite amused when I got the letter from him in the Grey Wardens telling me it was my fault.  I was like, "Actually, I reloaded the darn game for you!"

Brothers.  :P

haha, that's almost exactly what happened to me too! I'd read some thing about your sibling becoming a grey warden, but I didnt really pay attention to it. Was going to take Fenris (I'd only just gotten him and he was awesome) and Anders (He's a GW after all), and then Carver was there too and was like "pick me, PICK ME DAMNIT" and gave me all these rivalry points when I tried to go with my boys. And that bugged me so I reloaded and made him happy....and then he buggered off for the rest of the game as a Warden so it didnt matter that I'd made him hate me slightly less, BLAST.

"Yeah Carver, its totally my fault that you're a GW. Next time I'll just let you die. SEE HOW YOU LIKE THAT INSTEAD"

I took Bethany and Isabela.

I really should have paid attention to what Varric said to Cassandra about Bethany

So I had to replay it and take Isabela and Anders. Low blow Bioware. Low blow!

First time: Varric, Fenris, Merrill, RHawke
Second: Varric, Fenris, Isabela, MHawke
Third: Varric, Anders, Aveline, RHawke

The third was by far the most challenging, but that was kinda my own fault because despite his healing abilities, old Anders didn't have the lockdown capabilities that my MHawke or Merrill did.

First time was Varric, Anders, and Merrill. I couldn't say no to Leandra begging me not to take Carver. It was Anders and Carver the second time because I wanted to see how different being a Warden would make Carver, since he didn't seem happy being a templar.

Merrill because she's Merrill and Aveline because she's my unstoppable tank.

Unspoiled run, I took Anders and Aveline. Taking a grey warden seemed obvious, and Mum gave me the excuse needed to take the tank I wanted.

1st run - male mage Hawke who didn't trust to women until that moment. He doesn't trust to Anders either ("my own abomination on Deep Roads? Thanks"); Carver stayed at home because Hawke hated to see his mother crying/pleading and at the last moment Jared realised Aveline is more courageous and manly than Sebastian. So final party: mHawke, Varric, Aveline and Fenris.

On my first run I was mage Hawke and got Varric, Aveline and Fenris with me.

It changes now tho' if I want to make my sibling a warden, Anders + Sibling. If not Hawke + Varric + LI (Isabela/Merrill/Fenris) + someone depending on classes.

First time: Bethany, Varric and Isabela, since that was the team I had been using. Then I swore, reloaded and went again, this time with Anders instead of Bethany.

Second time: Aveline, Bethany and Anders. Self-explanatory, really. ;)

On my first playthrough I took with me Anders - because he is a Grey Warden and the only one who had been in the deep Roads before, and Carver - because he desperately wanted to go. I was really happy with the outcome as I like Carver and Grey Warden Carver = awesome.

Anders, Carver, Varric. Grey Warden Carver is such a bro, and their reunion is so incredibly sweet in Act 3, especially since Carver and my Hawke had just about the most antagonistic relationship ever in Act 1.

The first time, I brought Anders and Carver. Of course, I wasn't aware of what would happen to your siblings if you did or didn't bring them, but... yeah.

The second time, I brought Aveline and Merril, because.. Iunno, I wanted them to experience something new!

I never made Carver a grey warden cause I figured even Bethany was angry at me for being a GW, I can't imagine Carver's grumpiness improving after being made a GW with all that taint business.
Glad to hear there's a sweet reunion. He's half decent as a templar since he still stands with you when Meredith goes insane.

On my first unspoild playthrough i took Anders because he was a grey warden, which is always useful to have in the Deep Roads. Second companion was Bethany, because she said she wanted to go and Hawke had a soft spot for his little sister (in hindsight he wished he left her behind and felt like an idiot for putting her in danger).
