I bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 two weeks ago, unfortunately when I try to run it on my laptop I get the error message in the topic.
Techn info for my laptop:
Vista
Intel Core 2 CPU T5250
DISPLAY ADAPTER SIS MIRAGE 3
MEMORY (RAM) 2 GB
SYSTEM TYPE 32-bit OPERATING SYSTEM
failed to compile global shader FDOF And Bloom Gather Fallback Pixel Shader

Firstly, there is a forum specifically for tech support for Mass Effect, found here;

Secondly, only ATI and NVIDIA graphics are supported, and laptop versions are not supported at all.
