Alright, so it just occured to me - part of Leliana's initial gear in Origins is Seeker's Circle, an amulet. And at the end of Dragon Age she is a seeker. Anyway, her motives for joining are a little weak - I had a dream, so I'm going to come along now - so it looks to me that maybe it was all a big conspiracy - maybe she was contacted by the Divine and forced to join the Warden's journeys(or just to gain insight on the situation post-Ostagar)?

Well, I have a suspicion that she wasn't. However, worth noting is that Revered Mother Dorothea (who saves her from Marjolaine in Leliana's Song) becomes the new Divine in 9:34 (Act 2). Considering in several endings to Origins she as planning to go to Val Royeaux to see the Divine (9:31, approx), its possible that she met Dorothea again then and remained in her service from then on.

I think it's unlikely that she was specifically directed to meet up with the warden's group. She could have been spying/observing the Chantry operations in Lothering. With the approaching Blight the warden's group caught her attention and she decided to freelance for a bit.

Based on Leliana's Song, Eudaemonium's explanation seems more likely to me.

I think the Guardian would have said something about it, since he seemed intent on discussing everyone's true motives in the temple of Andraste. Seems to me that Leliana was a popular character and it just sounded like a good idea, so the writers went with it. I doubt the item was any kind of hint at future plans.

I'd like to think Leliana played me like a violin, and was just a plant sent by the Divine. Seems so Bard-like. Like a James Bond femme fatale.

Meh... great. First she lied to my warden, slept with her, told her she "loved" her and then left my warden to go back to the divine. My poor dwarf has no luck. Good thing my male warden is my canon warden. Posted Image

Indeed, even a potenital inconvenient death during the Sacred Ashes quest can't keep the good bard down :D

Heh, I'm choosing to believe that the only reason she's working with The Devine is so she can track down and rescue my Warden from whatever insane predicament she'd gotten herself into this time.

It's the only thing that makes sense considering she said she'd follow her anywhere

That's my delusion and I'm sticking to it

I'm pretty sure she always stayed in contact with/influenced by Dorothea, but as an official agent? - probably not.

Short Question: Is there any difference between the romanced Leliana and the not romanced Leliana when you meet her in Sebastians quest? Does she even mention the warden?

The situation you described is my canon warden :crying:

But... I don't think this scenario is the case. I'm having a hard time seeing it.
*sigh* Why couldn't BioWare just let them be happy? :crying:

During the events of DAO, I don't think so - I think she genuinely left the Chantry to travel with the Warden. Afterwards, she returned to doing Chantry work again, and with the new Divine, Leliana wound up getting a "good ol' girls" promotion.

She mentions:  "he/she is very dear to my heart".

However there is a bug at the moment where if you import a save file from Awakening or DLC, this doesn't happen. I hope BioWare will adress this. Pwease :innocent:

I'm not sure about if you didn't romance Leliana in Origins, but i did and she does mention the warden is "close to my heart"
Which made me happy.  :)

Edit: "dear to my heart" not close..sorry...same difference though.:)

The bug is really annoying, and also kinda strange since it recognises the fun Leliana and the Warden had with Isabela - which only happens with a hardened romanced Leli, but not the romance itself.
I read somewhere (can't remember exactly where though), that the romance flag is correct but it's a problem with the wrong dialogue line activating.
Which is, I suppose, less horrible than it not being recognised at all...a little.

Edit - I think the problem comes when you import Awakenings and the DLC that came after, but not if you only import  Origins.

Aye, that is exactly it. If you import from Origins than the romance should be flagged. I hope they resolve this soon.

How would a pro-Chantry Leliana be reconciled with an anti-Chantry Warden, I wonder? If she's been looking for the Warden, why would she assume he'd help if he doesn't like the Chantry? If the Hero of Ferelden left with Morrigan, would she assume either of them would have any interest in this conflict? If they were in a relationship, would this even be addressed? Are the writers going to allow us to explore this and continue the Warden's story, or is DA going to pull a Nevarine and have the Warden vanish indefinitely?

Well... they've done that with Revan for about... 8 years I think. Phew, now that's a long kept secret if I ever saw one.
I hope we are going to be able to explore this. I honestly don't want to believe that he/she was taken out of the picture just so the Mage/Templar conflict can get out of control.

Interesting question Lobsel.

Another thing that bothers me: Why exactly is Leliana in such a high ranking position in the chantry, while she said in Origins that she doesn't believe in the whole "the Maker has abandoned us and we need to get his attention again" stuff and you could even support her view on that. Why is a woman that questions the very principles of faith of her church the left hand of the Divine? Posted Image

I've no idea if she was her agent all the time but damn she looks so much better in DA2. I hope she is romance option in DA3 if we don't get to play Hawke again :P

Good question. I suspect the Chantry had their eyes on her after the Warden's team defeated the Blight. They all became recognized after all. In Awakening, if you romanced her, you get a letter saying that she has an audience with the Grand Cleric. I think she got promoted then.

I agree to the first, but I would romance her only if we play as the Warden again :P

i always knew Leliana would be a future candidate for another DA game. She was such a strong character in DA:O .....and was probably the most popular one too that you can't just forget her and leave her out.
I too hope we can romance her again...hey, ho :)

The current Divine knows Leliana pretty well and likely trusts her. That seems sufficient to me.
