Oh yes....a nice DA2 ending for me.

How do you wind up with these endings where you're on a boat with Isabela and maybe Merrill? Just have high friendship with them or...?
You can romance both Merrill and Isabela at the same time...neither seems to mind.
We are assuming Isabela sailed into the sunset with us as she said she would take us with her earlier in the game. She gets a new ship well before the end of the game.
PS: As long as you didn't let the Arishok take her. (i think that is how you spell it)

My ending was just a total disaster.
Sigh.
Edit: MASSIVE SIGH.
Edit2: I'm... seriously... I think that this honestly had to be one of the most catastrophic endings ever...
Edit3: I need a hug.
*hug*
I know the feeling, my ending wasn't horrific in some ways (my 3 closest friends stayed with me to fight, and my sister was alive too) but I really didn't want to be embroiled in a war. Stupid Kirkwall. At least LIs get to stay with Hawke this time round, poor Cousland and Alistair had about a week together before Warden and King duties took them in seperate directions.

Yes, my first mage slept with Bela then romanced Merrill and gave the pirate her ship and agreed to leave with her, so ending said only Bela remained with her. I was sad I apparently didn't get to keep my cute malificar with me.

A little more wrap up of the later lives of the companions would have been nice, but I'm left feeling hopeful that maybe we will get to catch up with them in another game. I would far rather see a continuation of Hawke's story than my (dead) Warden's. I'd say the end is biggest improvment from Origins to Dragon Age 2. I actually care about what happens next. After the end of Origins, I had no desire to see anything more that universe had to offer. Now I'm excited for another sequel.

Mage!Hawke slaughtering all the mages and templars who were working with each other - which was one of Hawke's objectives, as a mage supporter - and then Anders says along the lines of "I've got to be dreaming" with zero objection.
What is this I don't even.

That being said, even on casual I got wiped out a few times by the toughest enemies. So I had to assign all the party to use their best atatcks rather than let most everyone do their own pre-programmed thing. (Merill kept turning enemies to stone so that I had to wait until the came out of it to seriously hurt them. Bad girl Merill, I did not assign the use of that spell in your tactics screen).

How did Bioware mess something that simple up?
But Carver as a Warden actually made Carver more likeable to me how he put everything aside to help his last family member outside of their uncle.

My rouge could wipe the floor against most opponents, especially in casual. The duelist and assassin trees have options that let you hit for 400 or so damage. Then you can go auto-crit (from assassin) and backstab, let loose a string of attacks and use the power that makes an explosion based on the number of regular hits. Not sure why you are having a problem.

If you put just one point into it, it reduces the damage they reduce down to 20% from 50%. Petrify is a great spell, seemed to work on most of the bosses.

Are we all talking about the same ending? Because I found it very generic. "We vanished into the hills, and circumstances eventually forced us to leave the Champion's side. Well...all of us except for [insert lover's name]." We hear nothing about our moral choices, nor what became of our other companions.
Indeed, it was kinda a cop-out. What happened if we left Bartrand alive? What happened to Isabela if you gave her to the Qun, etc etc.
One of the strong suits of Western RPGs is the summation at the end. I mean, it can be a stupid slide-show but it still shows some effect from choices made and makes you reflect on why you chose things.
Always great is when you do things that seem right at the time and find out later that it was a bad call, or do some minor evil and discover how wide the effects from that ripple.
BUT NOPE, BETTER BUY DA3 TO FIND OUT, HERP DERP!!!111
Weaksauce.

I disagree.
To call Orsino an idiot is to insult and degrade all idiots everywhere.
Orsino is a cabbage.

Told maxed out rival and turned down lover Anders to go away
Sebastian threatened Kirkwall, let him leave
Sided with the Templars (I was a very pro templar Mage, bwahahaha) Siding with them throughout Act III got Meredith to open up to me about her personal history. Tragic.
Killed abominations & blood mages
Had amazing farewells with my remaining companions, a wonderful kiss from Fenris and awwwwww
Entered the Templar's Hall -> Battle. Anders returned in a cutscene, preaching about betrayal and Justice. Had to kill him. It was heartbreaking in a way. (And recalling that Seb now has his wish but doesn't know & Kirkwall & Starkhaven might end up at war with each other....)
Orsino went crazy and at the mention of the Lily Killer Lady Hawke was ready to cut him up
Went back, thought that was that. Meredith accused Hawke of treason & wanted her dead. Carver and Cullen switched sides. AWWWWWW.
Battles galore
Lady Hawke became Viscountess and had some happy time with Fenris
As for where it will go next....DA3 or an expansion will tell the tale.

I'd classify Orsino more as ****** Evil (considering his involvement with the serial killer), and Meredith as Stupid Neutral, since had she not had that idol driving her insane, we may not have had to go trough all that bs in the end.

I sided with the mages since since you have no other option if you don't want to let your sister die. My companions stood by me until "circumstances....blabla".
Merril vanished with me into the void of legend.
One question though, can you only become viscount if u side with the templars?
And does anything that you do prior to the last confrontation change anything at all?
I mean if u side with the mages u still have to kill orsino - is it the same with meredith if u go with the templars?
