console at #8 and #11.
yep, they successfully sucked up to the console crowd by discouraging pc games WAY more than console gamers.
Well done.

Never reinforce failure.
DA2 got super lucky with Homefront slipping a week.
DA2 has been a fail on a numbe of levels. Not only was it not mass market, it damaged Biowares reputation and alienated a lot of the the RPG customer base.
Try again with the Ultimate Edtion maybe. But looking at what is coming in the next few months DA2 looks done.
Unless you wish to accelerate a decline. But as I have stated, whether it is a failure or not is yet to be seen. In addition; who defines failure and what is its definition?

It's pretty clear DA2 failed in it's objective of being "mass market".
End of.
True. That's because many developers are better at developing action RPGs. Bioware should focus on their strengths, not try to emulate others.

Normally the people who scream the loudest get heard. Honestly DA II is a good game. Not as good as Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Or Red Dead Redemption. But I would put it in my top 3 games this year. Really I see this game being transitional... They are most assuredly moving in a positive direction. I believe the developers are innovative and creative enough to make their vision work. I expect the next installment to knock it out of the park.

I suppose the pc gamers are pissed off because they cannot micro manage every detail. I am not sure what the overblown issue is with console gamers. I have 6 friends who play DAII.. non of them post on this forum. all of them like it just fine. with the exception of the Bioware fans, I think many people have joined recently to either troll, or because they have an axe to grind. I honestly do not get all the hate. It's a good game. maybe not a blockbuster or genre changing innovative game. But honestly it's a good game.. Man I remember going on Lionshead forums following the release of fable II, I needed to get some help with an achievement, and People were calling P.M a liar. wanting their money back. lol. It was just awful. and the game was pretty good IMHO. So this is nothing new. The people who like this game should write some positive reviews and blog about it.

You might enjoy DA2 and that's fine. I also enjoyed it somewhat. But it's not a "good game." It has too many flaws.

Exactly, with this source being called unreliable it's hard to tell. But even so, just using X360 as a marker (I'm a PC player, but 360 seems to be the more popular platform) DOA sold 509,171 in the first two weeks worldwide, DA2 sold 521,405 in the first 2 weeks worldwide.
Even with some of those based on pre-orders, it's still a pretty nice profit only on the X360. It's hard to compete with games for the Wii and DS because of sheer amount of young kids who want those. RPG is a smaller market.
I honestly loved the game and I wouldn't really call that a failure...

Forums are not the best source for an objective opinion -- I don't know where objectivity can be found. They do not reflect the consumer market and act only as a conduit for both fans and detractors alike.
I agree, it's a good game but nothing revolutionary.

lol too true. EA really need to up their game when it comes to marketing. They violate so many of the basic tenets of good marketing that it has become somewhat of a global joke.

Enjoying a game is the criteria I use when I decide whether or not a game is good. I am not a developer. so crticing a game from a technical perspective is not my gig.

A pretty good deal since I was able to walk out with 2x20PSN cards.
They told me that quite a lot of people have returned their Signature Editions already. Time will tell though.
But still. Not quite going to reach that 10million mark guys. Maybe if you just remove the dialogue wheel completely, replace Darkspawn with religious fundament....Well you know the drill.

Does that dungeon hunter alliance coming to PSN next month remind you of DA2?

I don't know. Isn't it a Diablo clone or something? Might be worth checking out if it has decent multiplayer.
Will definitely going to buy Streets of Rage 2 though. I needs my nostalgiah!

I also think we need to wait until DA3 to see the full extent of DA2's failure. Sales are arguable, but I don't think there's any doubt that DA2 has underperformed critically (lol 79 metascore) and dealt a significant blow to consumer confidence, and the real impact of that will be felt down the road.
