Merrill romance: is this a bug or what?

This is what happened:
I completed the Eluvian quest choosing to help merrill to awake the demon. I hade to kill her clan starting from the Keeper. But after this some things happened:
1- Isabela spawned at my home in Kirkwall with an exclamation point on her. At first I thought: "she wants to complain because now I'm with Merrill" but when I clicked on her nothing happened, just random dialogue lines without entering in any conversation. I went to the Hangsman tavern and there I had the dialogue where she says not to break merrill's heart but even after that Isabela still was at my house and I couldn't do anything to make her go away or just speak to her.
2- At my house Merrill kept saying that sandal was spying on her but I never entered a quest regarding that fact. I tried to click everywhere in the house but nothing.
3- Clicking on the flower in my room the main character kept saying that merrill wasn't feeling at home in my house... this was coherent before I had to complete the Eluvian quest, but not after.
SO: I think that I wasn't able to complete the Merrill's romance due to a bug or something like that. At the end of the playthrough I still got the "One romance completed" Achievement, but still I feel like I missed something. And at the end of everything Varric said that was Isabela the only one who stayed with me after the fall of Kirkwall. I think that the computer "thinks" that the romance I completed is the Isabela one.
What can I do??

I can't kiss Merrill whenever I like or just talk to her to recieve some love. Beyond that: after I involved myself in killing an entire elven clan just to satisfy her desires the only thing she has to say is "I think that sandal is watching me"... yeah, cool. And she doesn't feel at home with me either.
Bioware: if you want my money put more time on developing content, dialogues, locations and dungeons. I know that from a business perspective this is just grinding that delays the release and doesn't add anything to the gameplay. But to me (and many others) this is one of the most important things... it helps immersion greatly and immersion is the main thing a GDR should achieve.

Thanks a lot, now I can say that the romance involving merrill sucks.

I . . . don't think you can kiss or receive love from any body else either, but I haven't tried, so.

This is common to all five romances in the game. None of them allow you to kiss or make the abomination with two backs whenever you want.
There's two ways to try to fix the Isabela-in-your-house bug. The first is to check to make sure that you've done all the prerequisites for it. That means you need to complete "On The Loose", and you need to catch up with her at the hanged man (she'll tell you she's a lying thieving snake, and you're a champion).
The othe way is via debug console. If you aren't playing on PC, you'll have to do the former.

The other thing is you got the dialogue for AFTER the last Merril quest BEFORE you actually did the quest - that is also why she does not talk with you after the quest in over and that is a serious bug...
Yes, there's a bug in the script which forces you into her 100% Questioning Beliefs quest, instead of her "Hey Hawke, how're you doing? It's been 3 years" quest.

I completed all the quests regarding Isabela that appeared on my Diary, but the "in your house" bug never got fixed. I had the dialogue you are referring to, but the bug was still there after that.
BTW: I think I missed one of the Isabela quests, and this because I never had a face off with Castillon. I learnt about that reading this forum, but the quest never appeared on my diary. This even if during the campaing I kept trying to talk to my companions (including Isabela) all the time. Maybe this is the problem.

shame the engine is only 720p, and can't handle many enemies on screen (frame rate is laughable) and if you're not careful you're buffs can actually crash the game on the PS3.
hopefully more patches incoming some of the bugs are just urgh... luckily autosave is a lifesaver i guess. rushed game though :-/

The quest exclamation Isabela has is the start of the Castillon quest. You need to complete the quest "On The Loose", one of the main quest for the act, given by Knight-Commander Meredith where you track down 3 different apostates for her. That's the prerequisite for Isabela's quest.
