thanks a lot. i def gonna buy considering there both like 20 bucks total. Just to clarify, is the combat more like dragon age where u click where to shoot, or like call of duty where u need to move the cursor on the target to hit etc.

Unlike KotoR and Dragon Age, you do not simply issue attack orders, the player must manually activate each attack much like Dragon Age 2. In Mass Effect, this is done a lot like a shooter, right trigger zooms in a little, left trigger fires. In ME2 the player even has to reload, but it's very non-intrusive.

Call of Duty isn't a very good example. The gameplay has best been compared to Gears of War, but I wouldn't know not having played it.  It is much like a third person shooter, but the story is still the most important thing.  If you absolutely can't stand aiming a weapon for some reason you could simply lower the difficulty, I doubt you'd find it cumbersome enough to dissuade you from playing another Bioware epic.

Yes they are.

I didn't play ME until a little over a year ago (I just wanted something to import into ME2 that I preordered).

I popped it into my XBOX and probably played it about 8 hours straight.

I finished a COMPLETE playthrough about 4-5 days later.

ME2 is just as good, but for different reasons.

I think/hope ME3 is going to be utterly epic.

Not that it really matters, but are you playing on a PC or Xbox 360? Also, I thought that both games were about $20.00 USD each (Which is still an excellent price.)

PC, simply because it's much easier to deal with. The controls are more accurate, it does look better and you'll have a fairly good interface to deal with. Oh, and it'll likely be cheaper. And prettier.

Depends on what you find most immersive, the gameplay is almost identical.

I don't have a Console, so for me it's PC or nothing. From the little I've seen on YouTube, the PC version looks a lot nicer.
Also (and I may be incorrect here, someone who's played on a Console feel free to correct me) I'm pretty sure you get more freedom in the order you handle Missions on PC.

My good mr monopoly i suggest that you get if for pc, for one the prices are 75-25% cheaper. And like said before the game plays the same. Also mouse and keyboard is allways the best combination.

Shooters are almost always better on a PC. Not to mention the game looks a lot better then as well.

I picked it up today for xbox. it was only 15$ from gamestop. I am still in the prolouge but it seems to be decent so far. the controls will take getting uses to but it looks good.

The controls for ME2 are MUCH better. Grenades are done away with and melees are with the B button, rather than being dependant on range to target.

Yeah....what?

Having played on both, I prefer the PC by a landslide. But that's only due to the controls, and the graphics are slightly better. There isn't a huge difference otherwise. It really depends on personal choice, some people like PC , others like consoles, like Brandon, who also likes double posting his point several times.

Most definately get ME1 and 2. Mass Effect is my favorite scifi-rpg-franchise ever.

Yes get ME1 and 2. I played DAO and enjoyed it a lot, but find myself liking ME more. DAO shines when it comes to dialogue there is A LOT OF IT, the story is comparable to most fantasy games nothing all that unique. ME to me only lacks in squad dialogue wish there was more the voice acting is so well done, especially banter when walking about and fighting.

ME storyline is incredibly unique for a sci-fi story would make a great series on TV if they could pull it off. It truly is sci-fi epic like star wars. I just recently beat ME1 and 2 and I've got to say best RPG's I've ever played.

If you are serious about RPGs and not afraid of shooters, I see no reason not to a least give the ME series a try. Particularly for someone who likes other Bioware games.

For the Mass Effect Series:
I would go with PC version for one reason-Modding.
(Xbox modding is possible but a bit more complex)

I personally believe ME1 is the best of the "new" BioWare games, with DAO not far behind, then DA2. If you haven't played it, and you're not averse to somewhat older games (and Star Wars) you should also investigate KOTOR2, though that is Obisidan, not BioWare.

I rank the ME series above DA:O. It is has the more original premise and better gameplay. As far as characters go, that's a tough one. DA:O has excellent characters.

If you manage to control your plot disbelief in ME2, it's a wonderful game.
